Name A TV Show That Everyone Talks About... But That You Avoid On Purpose. |
|
Also... have you EVER seen the show you're avoiding? Or are you just avoiding it because it just doesn't appeal to you?
Mine:
The Apprentice (NEVER seen it.) 24 (Never seen it.) The West Wing (Never seen it.)
American Idol (I've seen it... It's just stupid.)

Also Coronation Street and Eastenders (the two big British soaps), all of the 'Idols', pretty much all reality television, anything which has as its basis 'celebrities'.

(i just think the premise is absurd-a big airliner goes down, and no one can find them???) I tried watching Alias once because I know one of the producers-but I found it rather boring.

Network programming to my view is a wasteland.

There are way to many to count. I don't "do" reality programming at all, so all those (to me!) idiotic melodramas about the "human condition" are sophomoric to me.
As far as a regular series which I never watched, I don't care for sitcomes as a general rule (though I DO love Two and a Half Men), so I've never seen Friends, Will and Grace, Scrubs, Frasier, Joey, or anything else on NBC.
On the other hand, there are lots of bad sitcomes in general. Even though I enjoy Still Standing, I despise Listen Up, and what used to be in that time slot, Yes, Dear. I don't care for Raymond. In many ways, it reminds me of my own upbringing and bothers me on that level.
I would conclude by saying, I will watch no "reality" shows because I actually do despise the genre (and BTW, not counting in DIY, because they're fun), and no comedies unless they're reasonably intelligent, which is an anomaly.

I subsist solely on syndicated reruns, Discovery Channel (Mythbusters, Modern Marvels and American Chopper) and about 60% of Adult Swim.
I get my news from NPR and through DU links on LBN. Otherwise I'm reading.

Pretty much all reality shows except Fear Factor my old roommate got me addicted (who knew the same stupid stunts over and over again would be so great to watch). I saw the first season of Survivor and after that the novelty wore off. I've never seen later versions or it's various spin-offs. I just don't like seeing people humiliate themselves for money.
Sports. I watch almost no sports on TV at all. I might watch a couple of games of the NCAA tournament and the Oympics, but that's it.
Haven't watched Fox since The X-Files.
The Apprentice because I can't stand The Donald. :P However, I admit to being intrigued with what Martha Stewart might come up with.
Haven't watched 24, or any of the Law & Order shows.
I mostly stick to movies, new and old, The Food Network, SCI FI and HGTV. I like anthing odd, artistic, or instructional, how-to.

and Survivor - just never was interested in that one.
Desperate Housewives I fear I may become addicted to, and I already watch too much TV.
CSI - I liked Law & Order for a few seasons, but all the knock offs just don't appeal to me.
The Shield - doesn't appeal to me. Never watched Hill Street Blues, either.
Amazing Race - same as above.
West Wing - tried to watch once... found it boring.
Apprentice - do I really need to explain?

I have never watched one second of any "reality" TV show. Why don't they just have a singing competition, then have the contestants all apply and fight for the same job then show them screwing and then at the end they vote on who they will execute on live TV. Shouldn't that cover it?

I've seen a few minutes of American Idol because people watch it at the gym, and I have seen a few minutes of The Apprentice when I've tuned in early to watch another program.
