A Tribute To My Friend, Robin (playahata1)

I just learned a few minutes ago that while I was away, the rest of us here at DU learned of the passing of Robin which occurred last fall.

I am stunned and saddened by this news, for Robin was a brilliant, shining soul, full of love, compassion, graciousness, and wit.

Robin was a regular in my once-daily coffee klatches here in the Lounge, and always had a kind word to say, and some interesting stories to share about her life in academia. We talked music, sports, scholarship, literature, and everything in between. She was everything a forward-looking progressive of great intellect and warmth should be, and everything we would want in a friend on or off this forum.

I had every confidence, as you all did too, that she would kick that cancer in its ass. Death was to come to her later. Much later. She knew how to live life, and if anyone deserved to see what life's rich rewards and treasures are all about, it was Robin.

We were of the same age, the same generation, with the same national memories. I remember a wry comment she made about sharing the same surname as the disgraced pardoned presidential felon of Watergate. It's the little things we should always remember, isn't it?

I hope she knew how much she was loved and respected around here.

I am too devastated to help you. Bless her wonderful soul. I guess as DU grows we will have more friends die. However, it seems that we are snake-bit lately.
