1. It's a sit-down strike! They're trying to get the rest of the consonants
and symbols to join them.

4. Also, turn the keyboard over and gently tap on the back of it. Count
the cookie crumbs as they fall out.

3. I can't officially reccomend this, but...
...a friend of mine says that you can run your keyboard through the dishwasher, and did it himself, to clean it up.

11. My daughter has spilled Guiness on hers several times and it still works
after a good cleaning out and drying. My keyboard does not drink and I am having a dickens of a time with the letter which follows T in the alphabet. Have to hit it 5 or 6 times to get it to work.

Perhaps mine needs a drink?

7. Don't do that
I once spilled coffee on the keyboard and a little while later, keys starting freezing up. I can imagine the dishwasher would do all of the keys in.

8. It works...
It does work - maybe 50% of the time. My instructor took home about 12 from class one night and a week later brought back 5. Obviously, you want to let them dry completly, but it can bring back one that otherwise was ready for the trash.

16. just soak it in water.
I wouldn't use soap.

But I wouldn't even do that - you may just want to shake it upside down and see if that changes anything.

9. Two Possible Reasons
(scientifically based)

1. You shorted out 3 bits of the 8 that define each symbol. you are most likely down a total of 8 keys, since it should be a power of two.
This requires a new keyboard (or somebody unstable to fix it).

2. You suffered a chip failure (it's known as infant mortality) and it should be under warranty--get them to replace or repair it.

Good luck!

17. It could be a virus
believe it or not.

Run a virus scan before you do anything else.

18. Is it a laptop?
They usually have control keys that lock some letters out for use as directional arrow keys... although those letters don't appear to be the ones that are normally used.

20. My S.O's does that and it's driving me nuts
In order to use the right side of the keyboard, at least where letters are concerned, you have to hold down the function key? Can you tell me how to fix that? Pleeeaaassse?
