2. Good for a while...
She fit in for a bit. I lost her after a bit. Shes not my cup of tea, really, but she knows how to put a catch on her song. I can sporadically get that song "Head Over Feet" stuck in my head.

8. I love "Thank U"
The rest I can take or leave. Some, like "Ironic", I find so stupid it's offensive.

11. A story
One time I was driving on I-81 pretending to be her and imitating the video. I almost ran into a Mack Track.

4. She rocks.
Her early song "You oughta know" is one of the most artistically angry songs ever.

Her songs are unique, in that they are definitely feminine. No male will ever re-do her songs.

She's a true talent.

5. I look at her and realize I watched her on Nickelodeon.
"You Can't Do That On Television"
No matter what she sings, I can't get that image of her out of my head: pre-teen on a Canadian variety comedy skit show.

9. Nope. Don't remember if she ever got slimed, but...
if she was on that show, odds are she did.

10. I'd hate to be yelled at by her
I bet she has the same whining hysterical note in her voice as when she sings

12. Lost me after Jagged Little Pill
Saw her in a club-like setting, maybe 500 people max (a big club then), but she rocked. And so did that album. And then, what, I don't know. She played God in Dogma. That was cool.

13. Ask me in ten years.
She'll have to walk a tightrope so as not to burn out or merely to tone down to the point of becoming a vomit-inducing pop star, a la Lopez or Aguillera. I think she may have hit the happy middle between angst that can't last (i.e. Jagged Little Pill and Uninvited) and some of the smugness that overtook her second album.

14. How about comparing her to Jewel?
Lopez and Aguillera were pop produced women from the start, I think. Jewel had to co-opt that. I think, if Alanis ever comes back to vast popularity (well, its been a while, but not too long), she may or may not co-opt. I think Canadians might have more integrity... but Celine Dion... oh nvm.

17. framed like that...
and if it was framed as Blnk-182 and Good Charlotte, or the Emo kids who cant stop considering thier music 'punk'....

well, it is either dead or dying. Propagandhi is the succesor of the Dead Kennedys, as far as I can see. I love them both, but I always though punk had to involve a social message, to be what it was truely meant to be... even if it was as shallow as the Sex Pistols.

18. I thought You Oughta Know
wasn't a bad piece of pop when I first heard it. Then I learned she was singing to Dave Coulier and it became the funniest/weirdest thing I ever heard.

1. i have to admit i enjoy her music
once she got rid of glen ballard.. she certainly has a unique style and isn't an idiot. you could do far worse as far as modern artists go. it's difficult because once a person gets very popular, you feel like you need to abandon them or be lumped in with all the drones that listen to top 40 radio..

What's funny to me is that since I really don't listen to radio, I didn't really start liking Alanis until everyone else was sick of her :)

26. Alanis WHO?
What, is she still around?
I thought she would have been a Star Search "judge" by now...

Yeah, I used to like her. Then I got my life back on track, hit 40 years old and...well, she just didn't seem relevent anymore....
