I'm finally HOME!
Didn't get back from D.C. until 10:30 p.m. First we didn't have a plane because of mechanical failures, then had to wait through about seven planes trying to take off from the same runway and then when we got to Chicago, there was another plane at our gate. I think I spent more time on the tarmac than in the air. My sister, who picked me up, drove around in circles for more than an hour.

I had a FABULOUS weekend!!! It was fantastic meeting so many DUers and the rally and march were incredible. I've got a ton of pictures to sort through and lots more to say but just thought I would check in.

:hi:

5. Hi roomie!
:hi: What a great time we had, eh? Everyone, Proles is the best roomie ever and my son can attest to the fact that she and I never, ever snored. :D

I'm glad to see you made it home safe and sound and hope you have the day off tomorrow to rest. I'm trying to find someone who'll host my pics so if anyone reading this can do so, please pm me.

John Kleeb, I'm glad to see you survived. :D

6. Yeah I have survived but not without stress
I had a good time and I am fine but damnit it was scary, but I lived. Your son was a cool guy, when if he is signing up. Hes a freshman in college right? puts him in between me and Zack's age.

11. We felt so bad for you after you left
Edited on Mon Oct-27-03 02:06 AM by Oaf Of Office
I can recall feeling the same sense of panic in my teen years after learning my parents were looking for me. I hate that "oh shit" feeling.

Colin really enjoyed meeting you and Zach and I suspect he'll be joining DU once he gets past his shyness. He just graduated from a 2 year program as a computer technician (he's 19) and will be starting a new job working for his older brother as a Micros technician. Fortunately, he'll be working on computer programs for restaurants and hotels where technicians will always be needed. (not a job sent overseas)

Anyway, glad everything is ok with you and I'll post more on our trip tomorrow, after I get some rest. :hi:

12. Yeah I know
Well you may have noticed I am quite shy too. I felt bad for Zack honestly. That pizza was good, and I havent seen KG yet. Well if hes 19 then hes more closer to Zack's age. I was the baby , but as you know not the youngest here.

8. Well, judging by some of the threads
I just read in GD, I'm an America-hating leftist loser who's giving Democrats a bad name. :eyes:

Nice to know someone appreciated the time, effort and money DUers put into taking a stand. Thanks!

13. I know what you mean
I'm still speechless after reading some of the crap blithered by a few fellow DU'ers. It's easy to sit on your couch and criticize something you see on freaking TV. There's no WAY they could possibly get a sense of the ENTIRE rally & march from the IDIOT box. If they think THEY are better representatives of the democratic party, why aren't THEY out in the streets instead of sitting on their throne at home? Anyone who was actually there can attest to the fact that middle America WAS there and I for one am damn proud to have been a part of it.

23. Ignore those naysayers
You were exercising your 1st amendment rights by going. You don't ever have to apologize to anyone for speaking your mind, or by marching. You also don't have to agree with 100% of ANSWER's agenda either. What other groups are sponsoring these type of rallies? I wish I could have gone again, as I had a blast last January despite the cold. The feeling is indescribable. You should be proud of your actions, and know some people who couldn't go this time wanted to. I only regret not meeting you yet in person.

17. I'm home
And I think I look "normal" -- whatever that is-- and so did everyone else I met.

Are we all supposed to look like tv news readers?

Had lots of interesting times and will post later...It was GREAT to meet you guys, but you walk too fast!

I want to be a Raging Granny one day.

It was great to meet you. Can't wait to hear your stories. PM me you thread link so I won't miss it. I think we managed to keep together only a few blocks of the march. I know I ended up getting lost taking pictures.

Hopefully, another time we can meet and have more time to talk. :hi:

But as a male and a Cub's fan, I really didn't need to invest 800 bucks watching Bartman earn a place in Cub's history.

I hoped I helped a little....
