Poll question: Do you now, or have you in the past, practiced a martial art? |
|
Or more precisely have you ever trained in a martial practice or are you currently doing so?
A Thomas Jefferson statement got me thinking about this...
"Every citizen should be a soldier. This was the case with the Greeks and Romans, and must be that of every free state."
Perhaps we should consider this idea of martial responsibility more seriously?
PS~ I'm leaving guns and nukes out of this conversation.
PSS~ Evasion/conflict resolution, when possible, is more often (always really) the best tactic IMHO.

4. It took four years of continuous training. |
|
However, I took a year off when I moved from Maryland to New Mexico, so five years total. I started in June of 1994 at age 7 and got my black belt at age 12 in October of 1999. Currently, I'm in college, so I can't train during the school year. I'll get a month and a half or so in when I go back to NM for break in Nov.

5. I have been doing tai chi |
|
for over 10 years. I do sword form, as well. Tai chi is interesting since it is a "soft-looking" martial art that can actually be quite powerful.

12. Yeah. Tae Kwon Do, a couple of years ago. |
|
Good exercise, and very fun, but they required you to go to a certain number of tournaments in order to test up for each belt level, and they always took place way out in East Jesus.
