8. What's a good recipe for real waffles. |
|
The mixes I see in the store aren't much better than eggos.
I hear there's an extremely rich Belgium variety that they eat like donuts. I just came across my waffle maker in the attic after moving out some books and I was thinking of re-installing it in the kitchen.

9. Usually I just use the normal recipe, but I have had sour cream ones |
|
Sour Cream Waffles:
* 1 egg yolk * 1 cup sour cream * 1/2 cup milk * 3 tablespoons butter, melted * 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour * 2 teaspoons sugar * 1 teaspoon baking powder * 1/4 teaspoon baking soda * 1/4 teaspoon salt * 1 egg white, beaten to stiff peaks
This is pretty much the standard recipe:
# 1 3/4 cup flour # 2 teaspoons baking powder # 1/2 teaspoon salt # 1 tablespoon sugar # 3 eggs # 7 tablespoons vegetable oil # 1 1/2 cups milk
Separate the eggs, mix everything but the whites together. Mix until just barely no lumps. Beat the whites until stiff & fold them into the batter. Some don't add sugar at all, I think, but I do.

Those are the best. In a pinch, a good tortilla will do also.
