I just wanted to update all of you. She was so happy to get gifts, and her birthday isn't even until December!
She received a Tinkerbell nightgown (wish they made it in my size!), a sand dollar (she said she would put that in her treasure chest), a pretty pink notebook, some toys, some clothes (she loved the denim jeans and blue shirt with flowers on it), a stuffed meowing Halloween cat and a stuffed bear both that she did not put down the whole time I visited, and so much more--too much to list here. Oh, and she received some cash from a very generous DUer. When she opened the envelope and saw the money, she exclaimed, "Now I can go shopping at Toys R Us!!" LOL.
Here's the rest of the story about this little girl. Her grandmother who's now caring for her went back to Port Arthur last week to survey the house. Wind had blown the rain through the utility room door, and the carpet and floors throughout the house were wet. And you know what water breeds. Mold. The little girl's clothes were stored in the utility room, since she pretty much lives with her grandmother, and all had been destroyed by mold.
So everyone's help is even MORE appreciated, now that we know that fact.
DUers, YOU ROCK. You always come through when people are in need. Let this be my very public THANK YOU for what you did for this precious child. And, according to her grandmother, each of you will receive Thank You notes from the child through the mail.
I feel a little safer knowing that, if I should ever desperately need help, there are good DUers out there willing to watch my back.
I love you guys, each and every one of you!
