Hi horse lovers,
This movie is coming out tomorrow as you all have heard. If you get a chance go to Willits, CA which is about 2.5 hours from San Francisco. This is where the Howard Ranch is where Sebsicuit lived and died. They have tours and the proceeds go to the new hospital they're trying to build. This town lost their logging and Skunk Train. The price of housing is very good and that's the place to live to escape the rat race. Seabiscuit was the grandson of the great Man-O-War and was a total loser until 3 men stepped in and made him a winner. So if you're out of a job, out of money, down on your luck, and upset about the state of afairs in our new gestpo-land, just remember this horse beat all odds and naysayers to become a champion. The book is great too so go buy it. This movie should win the academy award with the best actor award going to...the horse!

:-(
I feel the same way about Alydar; darn near a cursed horse. 3 close losses to Affirmed, then murdered by the crook that assumed Claiborne Farms.
But, being a horse racing nut, I'm gonna go see Seabiscuit.

I'm a HUGE horseracing fan and have been looking forward to this movie for quite some time. I used to own a few harness racehorses myself and I'm hoping that this is a big boost for the industry.
For any of you DU'ers that have an interest in racing OR gaming, please check out www.simulatedsports.com. It's a GREAT sim and you don't need to know anything about horseracing to enjoy it. One caveat, it's mostly inhabited by right-wingers but that's part of what makes it interesting. You can have some good fights on the MB.
