and I don't think Mexico is prepared to be slammed by a Cat5 hurricane.
Thing is - hurricanes can't sustain Cat5 for too long because of everchanging weather conditions (Katrina & Rita were both Cat5 but hit the coast at lesser strengths). So I'm hoping it sticks to the current path because hopefully by the time it hit's land fall it'll be back down to a Cat 3.
Hurricanes move according to the Jetstream and other weather indicators which is why they usually turn to the right. However, they can follow the most unusual paths. Take Hurricane Agnes - a very memorable hurricane for us in Pennsylvania
This thing actually hit through the left coast of the Florida Panhandled and went up through the Carolinas (by then it was downgraded to a tropical storm). But then it hit the ocean again, picked up speed and for some reason turned back into the US coming in around NYC and camping out overtop NY/PA for a few days. Our state had massive flooding from that Hurricane
