The last call of the day ruined my day...
It was an old woman lying and asking the same questions over and over again, then TWISTING everything I said into what she wanted to hear. I was on the phone with her for an hour. I literally said "I'm sorry they shouldn't have told you that" 30 times. I started counting. Oh, I'm so glad this work day is over. Now the evening sucks because we got Skip's wedding band in and it doesn't fit. Dammit, What else is going ot go wrong?!

1. well, if you drink
have a strong one, take a deep breath and think of the good things in life...If not, just skip step one. Anyway, here's hoping it gets better for you. But whatever you do...NEVER say "what else can go wrong?" NEVER.

9. Ever had a frozen Long Island Iced Tea?
It's fabulous in the summer.

2. What sort of job is this?
Feel free to be purposefully vague, if you need to protect yourself.

3. I work for the loss mitigation department of a mortgage company.
My part of the department gathers financial info so the other part can put people on plans to get them current on their mortgages.

6. Amazingly enough, it hasn't been until today...
All of the people initiate contact, and most people are really nice and are so happy you will help them and be nice to them. I've went thru about 30 files so far, and this is my first crazy.

5. My heart goes out..
... to you. I'd last about 2 days in a job like that, or any job where I had to deal with purposefully recalcitrant or just stupid folks on the phone.

8. I had to spell authorize and pull today to a mortgagor.
I felt really bad for her and tempted to ask to talk to someone else. But I didn't. I stayed sweet and spelled for her. She was apologetic and nice, so it wasn't too bad.

7. I had a crappy last few moments at work too.
A coworker confided that there was a question about whether or not I was performing as efficiently at work as I ought. Not knowing the situation you might wonder why I don't consider this a thoughtful "heads up" but the fact is that I am buried under a workload that even Hercules would have trouble with. My boss is just goddamned clueless. To top it off, he has requested that I stick to the forty-hour workweek because Personnel doesn't like overtime. This means that I will undoubtedly fall even farther behind. True, I don't need this job for survival. But my ego is taking a beating. I have never in my life been called out at work for underperforming. Grrrr!
