My Dora kitty wishes she was a Mommy again
A cat outside has had kittens, and she can hear them. She runs all over the house, to every door and window, hoping someone will let her outside so that she can go be Mommy. When that doesn't happen, one of the beanie babies left (by the children) where she can get it is brought to the living room in the mouth, by the nape of the neck, as she does that MommaCat meow. She's been fixed for about a year now, but the sound of babies is driving her mad.

1. Our cat never had kittens andd has been fixed since age 6 months,
yet she still adopted a former stuffed toy of mine, and wanders around the house doing the MommaCat meow. She even tried to teach it to use the litter box, and was quite disappointed when it didn't work.

3. Well, she had two litters before we got her fixed
I hope I don't start finding beanies in the litter boxes! EEEEEWWWW! I guess that would teach the kids to pick up their rooms or close their doors before they go to school.

2. My dog treats one of her squeaky toys like a puppy.
She carries it around with her, and when it squeaks she'll roll onto her side and push it up against her stomach. When I first bought it for her I made the mistake of tossing it for her to fetch. Ooooo, she was pissed at me for days after that and wouldn't go ANYWHERE without the toy.

4. You can't play fetch with the baby!!!
I made that mistake once too. We have a bunch of old shoestrings tied together, and the cats love to drag it around, chase it, etc. She used to bring me the string when she wanted to play, and she'd meow. The first time she brought a beanie and was meowing, I tossed it for her to chase and bring back (Yes, my cat DOES fetch). She was rather pissed at me for a while.

5. Perhaps she could adopt?
A couple of kittens too old to nurse but young enough to drive her nuts might convince her the single life is better.

6. Well, I brought in one not long ago
She wasn't happy. She puffed, hissed and swatted. She just loves being a mommy. I don't think she gets that she can't nurse anymore.

8. She was a good mommy to both litters that she had
Scribbles is her kitten, but grown now. Even now, if Scribbles misbehaves, Dora will smack her down. Just a little pop on the head to let her know she's done wrong.

9. One of ours adopted an adult cat
Our Sophie came to us pregnant. After the kittens left, she adopted our Wilma who was six at the time but is a tiny cat. Wilma seemed to enjoy the attentions and the grooming so it all worked out.

10. Dora grooms Bear and Scribbles both, all the time
She also wakes me up by giving my face a bath, and will groom my son's hair.
