The AIDS-infected self-proclaimed leader of the Nevada Aryan Nations """" recently released from federal prison for sending threatening e-mails to religious groups and minorities """" was arrested Friday in connection with meeting an undercover detective for sex in a Sparks park, authorities said.
Steven Holten, 41, had been advertising sexual encounters through fliers in Glendale Park, said Sgt. Dave Evans of the regional Street Enforcement Team.
A Sparks resident last week sent police a letter stating he or she saw a man drive up to Holten, who is covered with white supremacist tattoos, leave two kids in the car and performed a sex act with Holten in the bushes, Evans said.
The witness also attached a copy of the flier, Evans said.
Police encourage anyone who may have had sexual contact with Holten to get tested for HIV. Court records said Holten of Reno several years ago was diagnosed with AIDS. It is a felony in Nevada for a person affected with HIV to knowingly have sex with someone without disclosing their illness. Holten was booked into the Washoe County Jail on suspicion of indecent exposure and for a federal probation violation.
