The constant conflict of Canada greeted me tonight
I was at the pub and there is always many French Canadians about. Some fucking shit head took offense to two Quebecois speaking French together and he tried to start trouble. It all escalated. At the time I thought, "Why doesn't this French guy just walk away?" But, the sad truth is he should not. Just as I, when I lived in French Canada, would have never walked away in the same situation.

I sat there throughout. wondering, "If this breaks out should I jump in on the french side? Or just break it up?" I wondered this because after so many Quebcois had been so nice to me when I lived there I promised myself that I'd always stick up for the French. I decided to wait and see.

At the end of it all, they had made up, a real testament to modern French/English relations in Canada.

At one point, in the whole thing I nearly cried (but I'm an emotional guy), because seeing such ignorant hatred among my countrymen upset me. I was thinking Bosnia, and Burundi all over again (dramatic, I know)

Laugh all you want, but be thankful you've never had to sit through it.

What really jibs me is that I actually had to thin k about which side I was wiling to use violence for. Like it should matter.
