Poll question: Pet Owners: What kind of flea/tick protection do you use on your pet(s)?
After you answer, please say how well it works for your pet, and whether you've ever used anything else that was better/worse.

Thanks!

1. Mellaluca (Tea Tree) oil and apple cider vingar
I put a about a tablespoon of ACV in Stella's food occasionally and I use tea tree oil in her bath, of I put some on my hands and rub it in, or when I have hand lotion out, I put it in the hand lotion and pet her a lot. I also vacuum a lot and use diatomaceous earth in the vacuum cleaner bag, which is a hepa filter bag.

It's non poisonous and works really well.

4. keeping them indoors-
Edited on Mon Oct-31-05 01:59 PM by MarsThe Cat
actually two of our three cats love spending large parts of the day in our backyard garden- we don't have ANY grass- we tore it all up and now have lots and lots of ivy, pachysandra, ferns, poppies, trees, several 'water features, home-made sculptures- and brick paths through it all. the entire backyard is fenced in, too high for the cats to jump out.
our red tabby male 'mars' and our siamese female 'she-ra' spend good chunks of the day in the out back, but have never gotten fleas/ticks- i don't use anything on them, but do bathe them every couple/few months with pet/flea shampoo.
our third cat- a female grey tabby 'xena' was a stray who made our back garden her 'home' (before the fencing in was complete) until we took her in, seems to have had her fill of the out of doors, thank-you very much- she runs away from an open door.
