I deposited a check for 6,070 on last Wednesday from Boston University. A PRINTED CHECK from a UNIVERSITY. I looked on my acct, and they have credited it to my register, but are withholding the funds until Thursday.
What a fucking double standard. They lobby for this Check-21 law to make sure our grocery checks get to the bank immediately, but they still can't complete their own transactions in a timely manner.
How hard would it be to just verify the check with the issuing bank and credit my account?
At BoA, when you deposit a check into the ATM, they give you 500 dollars of it automatically. So I DID have that, but they have retracted those funds as well.

I hate banks too. I always say my bank's motto is "We MIGHT let you have YOUR money."

except the check was drawn on Citizens Bank of Massachusetts. There aren't any in Arkansas.
I do cash my paycheck before I deposit it.

2. My employer uses Wells Fargo and |

I do also. When I get a check from my employer, using the same bank, it takes 48 hours to show in my balance. I think they draw interest on that money for the 48 hours because it gets deducted from my employers account immediately. With all the transactions Wells Fargo does, that interest for holding someones money for 48 hours adds up quickly!!
