I'm about to have sushi for the first time |
|
I've been getting into it with veggie versions but this time there will be fish on the plate. Does anyone have any advice or any tips or suggestions?
I'm a little nervous. :silly:

1. How adventurous are you? |
|
If you're a little queasy about it, start with things you know. California rolls, tuna, snapper, or shrimp. Eel is very good, its cooked and usually has a brown sauce.
If you're feeling adventurous, try octopus, salmon eggs, or sea urchin.
My best advice - ask the chef for his suggestions on what is good today.

2. Start with the cooked stuff |
|
Shrimp is good - it's basically just a prawn atop some rice with a little wasabi.
If you like that, try the tuna, which is a good, mild-tasting fish.
I've been eating sushi since I was a teeny-tiny kid and that's how my mom started me out. Have fun. :D

4. I'm eating but I'm chickening out |
|
I have some fish that I don't know on my plate (I ordered take-out so I'm on my own). I've had a few pieces but I felt myself forcing myself past my queasiness. I think I'm gonna stick with the Claifornia rolls and be happy that at least I found that. Maybe I'll try again if I can go with someone more knowledgeable.
For what it's worth I love wasabi. This has all been a way to get more wasabi.
