How do you fight a parking ticket (DC Metro Area)???? |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 11:42 AM by abernste
First off, I'm guilty. That said, there is something patently unfair about my situation.
Anyway, there are parking garages in the DC suburbs at the subway stations that charge $4/day. The one that I park at has six levels, of which an entire level is reserved for people who choose to pay extra for a permit (another $35/month). The "reserved parking" spots open up to everyone at 10am. So, I get to the Metro at 9:45am and all of the open spots are full. However, there is an ENTIRE level of empty reserved spots that will open up in 15 minutes. I park in one and get a ticket.
How do you fight a parking ticket when you are guilty, but it's still unfair? There is no possible way that 500 people were going to fill all of those spots (which were empty all morning) in 10 or 15 minutes!!!

2. Depends on your jurisdiction. Who issued the ticket? |

Here's how you do it in DC proper: http://dmv.washingtondc.gov/serv/ticket/parking_contesttix.shtm20 years ago I contested a ticket and got it reduced by half.
