I had my house professionally cleaned today - WOW! I like this... |
|
I don't mind vacuuming or sweeping, or even running a rag to pick up dust on the furniture, but otherwise I fuckin' hate cleaning - total waste of my time. I get no satisfaction from it.
So I finally buckled down, knowing my place, while clean on the surface, hadn't had a decent scrub down in a long while, and hired someone.
She spent 5 hours cleaning everything, even the insideof the microwave and the outside of the windows and scrubbed the bathroom floors on her hands and knees, and cleaning the shit out of the window sills, and she complained that after many long minutes of intense scrubbing she couldn't get some kind of something out of the tub (very minerally water) and I looked, and I can't even fuckin' see it.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love having a clean place again!!

3. I think it will cost me about $70. |
|
But future cleanings won't be as expensive, nor take as long, if I keep up a monthly schedule. Now that she's scrubbed a year's or so worth of crud off the top of the fridge and such, she won't need to work so hard.
And speaking personally, I'm at the time of my life where the $70 is cheap in comparison with the immense of loss of time I would have faced to do this myself, because it would have taken me 8 to 12 hours to do what she did, hating every minute of it, and doing a half-assed job of it, too.

70 bucks? Poor gal, I'd have tried to arrange for her to do it independently, and not have her agency taking a good chunk of that away.

I know the woman who owns the company, and she pays her people very well.

I had to temporarily halt my cleaning service, because of a dip in income  . Hopefully I'll be able to bring the woman back,'cause it sure was nice to have the house thoroughly cleaned every other week. Made the up-keep in between so much easier.

4. It really is! It freed me up to do so much other stuff, |
|
stuff that I can actually get paid for.
In a sense, I made more money while she cleaned than I paid for her to clean.
I can't quite afford it every other week, which would be totally my preference - I'd never have to clean a bathroom again... but I'm tempted to go once a month. But then, if I can only do once a month, it's almost not worth it, so I might just pay for one ass-kicking cleaning every six months...
we'll see.

I would suggest tipping her if she did a really great job. She earned it. :)

5. I truly miss my housekeeper.... I don't have one here because I don't |
|
work anymore... so, logic says, I have time to clean my house.
Well yeah. I have time. And yeah. It's very clean. In fact, cleaner than when my Daysey cleaned it. (It's never good enough when someone else does it, lol)
BUT I HATE CLEANING HOUSE.

8. That's A Good Price For 5 Hours Work... Was There Anything Missing? |
|
I miss having a housekeeper. After we moved beyond the travel-range of our previous housekeeper, we just never got another one.
Who can you trust?? I don't want to be following them from room-to-room standing guard, etc.

10. I feel that way about some yard work |
|
I rent a farmhouse on one acre and the owner farms the other 39. That means I have to mow. If I mowed it myself, I'd mow every single night after work. I don't have that kind of time or that kind of energy. (asthma and allergies don't help) The guy across the road mows for people in the summer. For $25 a week, he takes care of my yard so I can dig in the flower beds and gardens and do something that *I* enjoy.
So I hear you Rabrrrrrr, I love coming home to a beautiful yard!

18. I don't know if it was pricey or not, but it'll be about $70. |
|
For me, it's well worth it to save me a day's fucking around on my knees hating myself and swearing at the cannibal gods for skipping me.
