How do you switch careers when you're in debt? |
|
Especially if the decision is "compelled" on you because, as we all know, we all have choice - even if someone makes it for us by axing our jobs?

1. Can you go into something related to it, such as teaching |
|
something, repair, help desk, etc.?
Also, there were (MAYBE still are) government programs that would help with educational expenses if you got laid off.
If you're brave enough to teach school, my state (maybe others) has "critical needs areas" (subjects in which they are in dire need of teachers) and will, IIRC, allow someone to teach, with the understanding that they'll get the proper credentials within a few years.

many jobs have "background" checks that include credit history. not sure HOW you spend your check is their business, but that's the climate we live in.
