I have a question about a rare Simon & Garfunkel album. |
|
I'm not sure how many people have heard of the 1967 Pickwick Album, but here's the story:
In 1967, a record company named Pickwick took their old songs from high school like "Hey Schoolgirl" and put them on an album simply titled "Simon & Garfunkel." But he used a recent picture of them so people would buy it thinking it was a new album. If you've seen it, it's the one where the two of them are boarding a jet plane. S&G found out what Pickwick had done and sued. The album was pulled immediately. It's an extremely rare collector's item.
Anyway, my dad was one of those fooled back in '67 and he bought it. We were wondering where we could find out how much it was worth, or where we could find that out. I'm sure it's worth something, being so rare.

1. there are 2 for sale right now on eBay |
|
--one starting at $7.00, one at $20.00. One includes the comment "it is reasonably rare, and some price guides list it as worth $50-75 in good condition." http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&krd=1&from=R8&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=garfunkel+pickwickNobody has bid on these. As a sometime seller on eBay I've found that one week an item can languish with no bids, the next there can be a flukey bidding war over it. You need to be there at the same time the person's who's looking for it is. good luck!

I actually have the 45 RPM recording of Hey School girl when the fey lads were calling themselves Tom & Jerry (thus the line, "Hey Tom, catch your plane ride on time...I know your part is going to go fine....")
