I'm within a month of quitting my job... why? Because Mrs. Robb just got another promotion and raise, once again her raise is more than I made last year. So we're thinkin' I'll go into full-time home support mode.
What should I do first? Fix the fence gate? Re-attach the trim we took off to paint? Adjust the front door so it doesn't scrape the floor when it opens? :bounce:
I get to write in the mornings! I'm gonna be in charge of meals (I loooove cookin'), doggie care, housekeeping, mail, drycleaning, you name it!! I'm non-traditional role guy!!
Anyone else here man enough to regard the vacuum cleaner as a power tool? :)

I'm on disability so I've been a "househusband" all along. Anyone who says that stay-at-home moms "aren't working" should try their lifestyle for a week or so and get a whole new attitude.

2. Ah, yes. I remember it well. |
|
I was a househusband from May of '92 through August of '93. I had an 18 month old and a 4 year in my care at the time so I didn't do a lot of travelling or running around, but I had great fun.
I too enjoy cooking. And at the time was an avid gardener.
Have fun. Wish that I could do it again sometime. Perhaps when I retire.

3. My best friend's husband is Mr. Mom |
|
He takes care of the kids and keeps up on the house (he loves to work around the house and do outdoor stuff). He ended up doing that because of health problems and the fact that she makes good enough money for him to stay at home. However, once their youngest gets into 1st grade, he'll probably take on a part time job outside the home just to get him out of the house. It wouldn't be worth it now since daycare would wipe out any money he would make working part time.
If you don't think you want to be a fulltime 'househusband' why not find a job you would really want to do or volunteer for an organization that needs help (like a local campaign in your area).

4. I'm a wanna be househusband |
|
I was going to be, but my wife's future full time job is still a part time job because of the economy, and even though she makes twice what I do, she still wouldn't have insurance. With a 3 month old daughter, no insurance is not an option, so I work.

5. Retired from the state 18 months ago after 25 years.... |
|
No kids to put through school, house paid for, partner teaches high school. Together, he and I make enough to meet our simple needs, so I stay home and work on this big, old house, garden and cook. He's home for the summer now but in 10 days he goes back to school and I become fulltime "househusband" again.
