BAM!!! Breaking News - Bush relieved of Authority as Commander-in-Chief
Edited on Thu Jul-31-03 09:56 AM by TNOE
God - how I hope this news is correct:

http://rense.com/general39/skolmidd.htm

Snip:

"On the same day that George W. Bush verbally announced that "we are not leaving Iraq" a top group in the U.S. military has let it be known that Bush no longer has authority as Commander-in-Chief. Those well informed on the subject contend that three symbols of his authority were shorn from Bush's presence."

"U.S. Senator Bob Graham (D-Fl.) in recent days confirmed that Bush may have him arrested for violating national security in releasing 9-11 U.S. documents, which tend to incriminate Bush with treasonous prior knowledge."

"Top Democrats contend that Bush seeks to arrest Gore with Graham and an unnamed General for plotting to arrest Bush as a traitor".

OH PLEASE, PLEASE, LET THIS BE TRUE!!!!!

3. no..
just the beginning lets you know they don't know what they are talking about, no one took the football away from Nixon.

The president can't just launch by himself, the way they took away his ability was that Kissinger and McNamara decided between themselves that he was losing his mind they were going to block any decision he made like that at the Missle Action Committee level that procedes any sort of preemptive nuclear strike.

IT COULD - AND MIGHT HAPPEN. Don't tell me there aren't people in Washington that don't KNOW FOR A FACT that Bush/Cheney were in on 9/11. Graham sits on the Intelligence Committee reviewing the 9/11 material. HE KNOWS. So do others. Somebody has got to take him down. Sorry - but it may be a fantasy but I'm not ready to dismiss it. Yet.

And on Edit - the article is DEFINITELY NOT a joke - and in my opinion Skolnick is no nut job.

13. Shouldn't your profile icon be...
... wearing a tinfoil hat? *smile* Sorry, but someone should have taken the crayons away from Skolnick a long time ago. He's not been able to provide a single source or document on any story he's written for eons. Yes, Graham sat on the Senate Intelligence Committee. Does that mean he said that? No.

Could it happen? Outside chance. Might happen? Even longer odds. And, guess what? If it did, it would be a military coup, and then we'd really end up being the banana republic the rest of the world already thinks we've become.

Cheers.

12. Utter nonsense
"BAM!!! Breaking News - Bush relieved of Authority as Commander-in-Chief"

Oh come on, if your going to breathlessly title your thread like this could you at least do it when you have a credible news source.

The fantasy's of Sherman Skolnick do not qualify as a real news.

This entire story is utterly ridiculous. It is so silly it doesn't even make for an amusing read.

"I thought it was very amusing"

For me personally, it needed something more. I am thinking aliens. If only aliens had somehow been included in the story then it would have been amusing. Without aliens, I dunno - it just falls flat.

you are obviously quite naive - maybe a little too young too - but do some reading and research so as not to show your lack of knowledge - if you think we're the only intelligent life in this galaxy - you are quite mistaken and have believed that government lie too.

29. Article II, Section II
Section 2. The President shall be commander in chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several states, when called into the actual service of the United States; he may require the opinion, in writing, of the principal officer in each of the executive departments, upon any subject relating to the duties of their respective offices, and he shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.

Your BREAKING NEWS headline says Bush is no longer commander in chief.

I find that just as believable as this Clinton space alien story.

If you simply changed your headline, I think you'd find a different response from the folks here.

30. As I Said
I am only the "messenger" - I did not write the article. You don't like Skolnick, fine, you don't believe him, fine. After the lies spewed the past few years by MSNBC, ABC, FOX, CBS, NBC, New York Times, Washington Times, CNN, CNBC, you name it - I never discredit any independent media outlet or news source. In fact I'm inclined to believe them even more.

Your Article II, Section II - fine - but do you know - or does anybody know if there are steps, procedures to take responsibility away form the CIC - I mean he has stated that GOD tells him what to do - if any pResident deserved to have his responsibilities taken away - it is this one.

And again - this article excited the hell out of me - the rest of you didn't feel that way - fine. I leave it as stated.

17. You know what???
You guys can poo-poo all you want - BAM was definitely from me as this article raised a level of excitement in me I haven't felt for eons. Skolonick's titled it "breaking news" at the top of his article.

You know we've seen a stolen election, a coup, 9/11, two wars for oil, tens of thousands of innocents killed, our military killed, anthrax, Cheney's energy documents, etc., etc. We have a moran leader who can't even give a press conference.

For a change - yes I believe something like this COULD happen. Rense has been known to report news that doesn't reach mainstream media for at least 2 weeks - granted this may not be true - but I'm putting my hopes in the fact that IT JUST MIGHT BE. Everyone in Washington cannot NOT KNOW what the hell is going on - and in that vein - try to stop it.

Go ahead and talk about things like gay marriage, Ann Coulter, things that don't mean a damn thing in the whole scheme of things - and let me post things as I wish. Maybe tin foil hat is firmly in place - but I'm a believer in GOOD WILL WIN - and I want it to win in a big way so that everyone who idolizes this guy has massive egg on their faces.

Don't shoot the messenger - I didn't write it - and I have found Skolnick to be that far out - far out but NOT THAT FAR OUT - to have posted this as a joke. After these 2 years - lets face it ANYTHING CAN AND MIGHT HAPPEN.

"and let me post things as I wish"

I don't remember reading anyone saying you shouldn't post what you want. My only request/suggestion was that if you create a thread with a headline that would be huge news were it true - it would be nice if you didn't dissappoint by linking to a news source that is highly questionable if not utterly, totally unreliable.

"granted this may not be true - but I'm putting my hopes in the fact that IT JUST MIGHT BE."

I understand, but anyone can just make up stuff and post it since the bar of "it just might be true" is an incredible low standard. My only point was that an excitable headline linked to an incredibly bad source is sure to be a dissappointment for many people.

It's an editorial.

The GOP controls BOTH houses and Bush IS Commander-in-Chief as long as he's president.

Haven't heard from you in awhile. We should do lunch sometime. :-)

As far as this article - would that it were true! But I think it's satire. Also, from what I've heard here, I didn't think Rense was a very reliable source, in general. Those here who disagree, feel free to correct me.

The article just seems too "out there" IMO. :silly:

37. you know what's really crazy?
there are people here who are hopeful of the idea of a military coup. that's what this would be, my friends, the end of two hundred and ten years of democracy, with all it's flaws. You really want the MILITARY running the country? you want Generals to take over the civilian administration? what is this, a banana republic? think, people. as much as I want Bush to go, I only want him to go in an electoral defeat (or impeachment, although I have seen no evidence of "high crimes and misdemeanors"

c'mon now, this place is called DEMOCRATIC underground. can we at least try to be democratic?

Edited on Thu Jul-31-03 01:51 PM by seemslikeadream
the Supreme Court picked the president
the congress gave the president full authority to go to war on bogus evidence
the vice president is making another personal fortune rebuilding Iraq and the congress is letting him get away with it
some Iran-Contra thing happened and everyone skated cause Fawn Hall kept all the records in her boots

and that Admiral Pointdexter really was part of this administration

Don't try and tell me that some right wing group almost got away with selling voting machines that can be accessed remotely and that maybe some Senators were elected by fraud and that that tipped The Senate to the Republicans. Don't tell me we're living under a coup. Its just impossible
