Might be a silly question.. |
|
If someone wrote you a check ... and its not for your bank ... do you have to go to your bank to just cash it? or can you go to their bank?
I have my checking account with my credit union. with is pretty far out of the way... and this check is for a bank right down the street.. i was wondering if i had to go to my bank to just get the cash or if I can just go right down the road?
Like I said it is prob. a silly question but I don't know the answer to it .. thanks :)

1. Here in Ohio I think you can go to the check writer's bank |

and get your money. Things might be different elsewhere, though. Couldn't hurt to try. If they won't cash it, well, you're already out and about. You can just swing by your bank.

2. Yes, I'm sure it would be a lot easier to go to the check writer's bank. |

In fact, your bank may not cash it. Usually, banks hold checks from another bank for 24 hours.
