I'm astounded every single day that I have to actually work for a living. |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-05-07 06:26 PM by graywarrior
I'm sitting here right now, realizing I have to work on a manuscript tonight instead of playing here. How did this happen? Who designed it like this and where is the fucker?

I'll hold him down and you can punch him.
I've not been able to move my right arm hardly at all today, I have my toughest job on Sundays and every freaking Monday is a total wash because I am always too sore to move.

8. Like, who invented work where you have to answer to "bosses"? |
|
The boss. My boss. His boss. Her boss. Stupid word, stupid concept.

10. For me, it's not the bosses... |
|
it's the work. Stressful, tiring, physical, technical and sometimes downright GROSS. I actually had a patient today ask me if I get paid more for dealing with such gross stuff.... I told her a very diplomatic "no.", but part of me was thinking she was right. I should get a premium.
Most people here would just DIE if they hear what I'm doing right now.

11. Nursing has got to be one of the toughest jobs ever. |
|
I always feel like I should help out when I go to a clinic or hospital. The nurses all look like they're at the breaking point. I used to work at Mass General Hospital and dealt with a lot of doctors every day. Can't imagine how the nurses put up with them.

36. I'm guessing body fluids play a big part in your job? |
|
I always admire people who are able to do such essential jobs, like nursing, where they perform such intimate and necessary and yes, very gross, tasks. I always knew I could never do that kind of work and I'm sort of in awe of people in the medical field who do those jobs.
:toast: Heres to you!

Were you the one that posted to the photo contest back in the fall with the autumn trees and road? I couldn't go back to find out because it was donation time and I was rather locked out. If so, it was beautiful and looks like the road to my grandparents house in NC when I was a child.
Off to home. Only access at the office. So, don't work too hard now!

They close it off during the winter months because it is primitive and they like to keep it that way. It is mostly National Forest. Moose country.

Indirectly, thank goodness. I work at a place that screens applications for apartment complexes and such. We get some real doozies. I had one guy who had no rental history because he had been in jail for murder the last 20 years. :7

24. "They hung the jerk who invented work..." |
|
On a summer day in the month of May a burly bum came hiking Down a shady lane through the sugar cane, he was looking for his liking. As he roamed along he sang a song of the land of milk and honey Where a bum can stay for many a day, and he won't need any money
Oh the buzzin' of the bees in the cigarette trees near the soda water fountain, At the lemonade springs where the bluebird sings on the Big Rock Candy Mountains
There's a lake of gin we can both jump in, and the handouts grow on bushes In the new-mown hay we can sleep all day, and the bars all have free lunches Where the mail train stops and there ain't no cops, and the folks are tender-hearted Where you never change your socks and you never throw rocks, And your hair is never parted
Oh the buzzin' of the bees in the cigarette trees near the soda water fountain, At the lemonade springs where the bluebird sings on the Big Rock Candy Mountains
Oh, a farmer and his son, they were on the run, to the hay field they were bounding Said the bum to the son, "Why don't you come to the big rock candy mountains?" So the very next day they hiked away, the mileposts they were counting But they never arrived at the lemonade tide, on the Big Rock Candy Mountains
Oh the buzzin' of the bees in the cigarette trees near the soda water fountain, At the lemonade springs where the bluebird sings on the Big Rock Candy Mountains
One evening as the sun went down and the jungle fires were burning, Down the track came a hobo hiking, and he said "Boys, I'm not turning." "I'm heading for a land that's far away beside the crystal fountains;" "So come with me, we'll go and see the Big Rock Candy Mountains."
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains, there's a land that's fair and bright, The handouts grow on bushes and you sleep out every night Where the boxcars all are empty and the sun shines every day On the birds and the bees and the cigarete trees, The lemonade springs where the bluebird sings In the Big Rock Candy Mountains
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains, all the cops have wooden legs And the bulldogs all have rubber teeth and the hens lay soft-boiled eggs The farmer's trees are full of fruit and the barns are full of hay Oh I'm bound to go where there ain't no snow Where the rain don't fall, the wind don't blow In the Big Rock Candy Mountains
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains, you never change your socks And little streams of alcohol come a-trickling down the rocks The brakemen have to tip their hats and the railroad bulls are blind There's a lake of stew and of whiskey too And you can paddle all around 'em in a big canoe In the Big Rock Candy Mountains
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains the jails are made of tin, And you can walk right out again as soon as you are in There ain't no short-handled shovels, no axes, saws or picks, I'm a-goin' to stay where you sleep all day Where they hung the jerk that invented work In the Big Rock Candy Mountains
I'll see you all this comin' fall in the Big Rock Candy Mountains! Here is John Harford (Rest in Peace John) doing his version of the song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcUj4mT7p2EI've always been rather sympathetic to the view expressed in this song.
