Is there a point to pursuing a degree?
I've almost got my associate's and have been considering pursuing a bachelor's but I am concerned because I want to find a job and it is near impossible currently. I was thinking international business administration in case it's outsourced (with a minor in mathematics) but I was wondering if anyone had any comments about whether or not this would be worth pursuing.

1. Yes
a degree is very important. Not for actually DOING a job, but for getting in the door to get the job.

I think Business Administration is a good field to pursue. It's not the people with Business degrees that get outsourced.

2. yes
don't kid yourself.

The higher, the better.

Here I am, passing 50, working on my master's, and kicking myself for not doing it earlier.

It makes a BIG difference in how you are regarded.

3. Yes yes yes.
It is very important and worthwhile.

My MA got me my current position. You might have just as much ability, but if you stop with an AA, someone who has the degree would most likely push you out of contention.

However, there are many fields that require no degree at all. But, since you states Business, then I would say yes.

4. Yes. You can probably DO my job, but you can't GET my job without a degree.
That's a Bachelor's degree, of course.

5. Yup...
Just from my circle of friends, I can say that those that have pursued degrees have had better luck in our regional job market than those that have not. Except for my blue collar trades pals... their salaries blow all of ours away. :)

6. a bachelor's degree is kind of like an entrance ticket
there's a class of occupations where you will not even be considered without it. Just because you have a bachelors degree doesn't mean you will get a job automatically though, you need the proper experience too.
