My husband is watching "Army of Darkness" for the 1,751 time. . . |
|
why does he feel the need to continually hit my shoulder when ANYTHING happens in the movie? I'm talking like every 40 seconds or so he's trying to draw my attention to a movie I have also seen more times than I care to count. Why? Why? (Imagine these "Why"s in a plaintive, wailing Nancy Kerrigan voice.)

1. I watched "A of D" 1,751 times is not something you'd put on a match.com profile. |

6. I have no problem with him watching the movie. |
|
Hell, I bought him the movie (and Army of Darkness-The Director's Cut and Evil Dead). It's the constant smacking on the arm while I'm trying to type that's driving me crazy. He's seriously affecting my WPM here!

7. My wife does something similar at the movies... |
|
during very intense or violent scenes, she starts nervously pounding on my arm. I joke that she has to leave one open seat between us.

Then punch him in the shoulder every time Hugh Grant says something stupid.
Make sure on your way back from the video store you stop by the army surplus store and pick up a pair of brass knuckles. Think of it as negative reinforcement. Like teaching a puppy to stop peeing on the rug.

20. That would work if I could ever get him to sit through a Hugh Grant movie. |
|
Hugh Jackman (as Wolverine), yes. Hugh Grant, no. Not even with Drew Barrymore. No uh-uh.

It's why we can watch certain movies over and over and over and over again.

I say, "Hey, Lama, how about a little something, you know, for the effort." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consiousness." So I got that goin' for me. Which is nice.

21. My girlfriend loves the entire "Evil Dead" series, she even met Bruce Campbell. |
|
He autographed her book, "Gimme some sugar!" I love his work as well, and I've come to accept the fact that if he ever comes for her, I'll have to learn to live alone.

25. For the exact same reason that my husband watches the Westerns Channel (Encore) and thinks I'm |
|
interested too. :yoiks: He has it on in the background practically all the time during the day when I'm at work, and he does it on the weekends a lot of times. He knows all the cowboy movies by heart and calls me in every freaking time something halfway interesting to him happens. Never mind that I'm in the middle of scrubbing toilets or posting on DU or something just as exciting... And you're right---it's about every 40 seconds by my watch. I have asked him in a nice way many, many times not to worry about calling me about stuff like that, because it's not my cup of tea. He still does it anyway, and I've had to get firmer about it.
The issue is actually a lot deeper in our case. He shows a complete lack of respect for me and for anything I am doing when he demands my presence at times like that. He never realized it until we talked about it in counseling. (Never mind that I had been telling him that for a long time. :eyes:) But he still does it, and I still get irritated.
