I buy the Q-tip type that has the zinc gel on the end.
If I use it as soon as I start to feel like I'm getting sick with a cold or flu, it almost always stops or shortens the symptoms.

The stuff is great. Just don't squirt it in your nose like nose spray, you have to put it in the tip of your nose, otherwise you will be sneezing a long time.

22. I ;put on lots of clothes and go to bed |
|
Sweatshirt, sweatpants and wool socks.
I put on lots of covers. I try to "sweat it out". I figure if I artifically raise my tempurature then the bugs die sooner.
Do I have proof that this works? As much proof as the Airborne people have.

maybe some goldenseal, and garlic capsules wouldn't hurt. But also the echinacea. I also take it if I have a slight toothache and it makes it stop hurting. I take it for everything, it's a miracle drug.

24. Orange pekoe tea liberally laced with honey, lemon, and |
|
whiskey, mix this with commiserate conversation with someone who loves you about your achey brachey body. Excuse yourself to go to bed early, take a BIG gulp of NyQuil, lay down, close your eyes, uh ohh, shit, set the alarm, see you in the morning. Stretch BIG before you get out of bed, take a shower, get dressed, there you are good as new.
WARNING: Do not shave, answer e-mail, drive an automobile or attempt to operate farm machinery until later in the afternoon.
Always works, always, follow the warnings.

DayQuil doesn't seem to work if the cold is too far progressed, but it does seem to nip colds in the bud for me.
Lots of liquids, too, especially stuff with vitamins.

This combo usually dries up all my congestion on day one. After day two, for me, the ongoing cold is usually completely gone.

32. I know a lot of people are recommending zinc... |
|
and Zicam works like a charm for Mr. LIW, but here's a word of caution: when I tried Zicam, I traded my cold for a very, very upset stomach. I won't touch the stuff now.
At the moment, I am drinking TheraFlu for a cold with sinus pressure, headache, congestion and sore throat (at least, I hope it's only a cold - I'm going to try to see the doctor tomorrow).
Anyway. I recommend water, enough food to keep your strength to fight off the bug, and lots of rest.

It can work, but usually only at the outset, like right now.
Chinese stores sell it -- some health food stores carry it now, too.
