I'm not sure he qualifies as a pop star but as I'm pretty anti-pop the only answer I have is Matt Skiba.

Well I bought The Decemberists - The Crane Wife and The Shins - Wincing the Night Away at the exact same time so those. That was a month ago.

What (or what moment) made you realize that you were a (liberal, Democrat, or whatever label you choose to define your political affiliation)?

I was in this very uncomfortable dark place, and feeling pressured from all sides. I was being pushed into something against my will, and then all of a sudden I saw the light and could breathe. Then someone smacked me on the ass.

Seriously, I don't remember a time when I didn't identify as a Democrat. My parents are staunch Dems, and from as early I can remember they were liberal and their conversations had a profound effect on me and how I view the world. I remember always fighting for the little man, I always felt the need to stand up for others (maybe because I have little brothers) and fighting against the big bad people (maybe because I had big brothers :rofl:). I got in trouble in kindergarten for "talking back and being disruptive" to the teacher when I told her she was being mean and not fair to a kid in class because he barely spoke english and she wouldn't let another kid translate for her (this was in Houston, that great bastion of liberalism in the early 80's). My parents asked me what happened and they told her off (yay parents!).

Damn, I just remembered how much I hated kinderarten, because of that teacher. What bitch. I have some not so nice stories about her, as does my little brother who had her also.

This goes to you and / or any DUer, and is not meant to be a criticism or me trying to impose my preference on a community where I've been a member for less than a year, but I have to ask: what's your opinion on copycat threads? I've never seen one that amused me and often hide them just to keep them out of my face. The day Barbaro was put down there were so many (none which struck me as funny) that I just closed my browser and waiting for the things to go away. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Are the bane of my DU existence. I hate them. Often. unless they are extremely witty, making me think less of their authors. Usually, they just show a lack of creativity.

I have almost nothing to complain about here, but if forced to name anything it'd be copycats. The day Barbaro went down and I saw what seemed to be about 50 stupid copycats I was in a very foul mood all day. It wasn't just because they were in bad taste, it's because they were seemingly everywhere.

I agree. Once in a while I get on a goofy streak and post some, but it's only once in a blue moon. The worst for me was recently when someone said they'd asked to be banned and people posted copycats of that, because that was a very serious topic.
