Computer glitch does in Seattle New Year's fireworks...
Edited on Tue Jan-01-08 03:44 AM by regnaD kciN
The New Year fireworks show at the Space Needle hit a snag because of a computer snafu, causing several false starts and a delay of a few minutes. The company putting on the fireworks display, Pyro Spectaculars of Rialto, California, apparently tried to reboot the computer twice after the system went down and then finally was forced to light the fireworks by hand, King 5 reported.

Let me guess...the computer was running Windows Vista, wasn't it?

1. "Vista!" Ironic at the core (given what the word "vista" means)...

2. Yeah, it was pretty weird.
I've been watching the New Year's celebration at the Needle for years, and this was the first time anything like that has happened.

3. As soon as it was reported as a computer problem...
...my 9-year-old daughter and I both came up with the "Vista" joke simultaneously. Think that O.S. has got a reputation?

4. Fuck that was funny.
Especially the KING 5 tv coverage. I think Joyce Taylor was more than a little "buzzed", and that Dennis guy, his usual dickhead self.

But the pyrotechnical glitches themselves were a source of amusement. I used to work for a pyro company which did events from typical 4th of July celebrations to indoor stadium rock shows, and know what's involved with setting all this up. Someone is definitely getting fired over that glitch. Whether they used Vista or not.
