1. I love em....

Hot Dog Carts and taco trucks. That is some kind of eating. You know the money is going to nobody but the guy running it. And in most cases, the dogs are far superior in quality to anything you can buy anywhere else.

But the taco truck beat it all, tacos for a buck. Carne Asada, Lengua, carnitas, pollo, pollo asado, carne.....Burritos as big as my arm for four bucks with the same fillings...

3. Here's a place that might be right up your alley...
...Dia de Pesca...got an 8.25 out of 10 rating...

The restaurant is a converted taco truck. The review (link below) has 11 more photos:

http://www.jatbar.com/reviews/San_Jose/Dia_de_Pesca.asp#Jason

Here's the paragraph that reviews the taco in the above photo:

"chickenitza taco (image 11) - it's the house special taco where chicken is the star of the dish. It's a skinless chicken breast marinated in their secret orange and cilantro sauce. The big surprise is the peanut sauce topping that closely resembles the same stuff you'd get at thai restaurants but not as sweet. Also mixed was an interesting tasting bright green tomatillo avocado sauce. There's a lot of flavors going on in this taco. Combination of sweet, tangy, mildly spiced ingredients. It was good and would have no problems ordering again but my complaints would be use of lettuce for a chicken taco and tortillas weren't too warm. They lacked a good grilling and were falling apart. Price was $2.50 and tacos are large, 2 tacos should be more than adequate."

Next time I am in San Jose I am so there....Gotta try that chicken taco for sure and the fish looks good too...

my fave is 3 Amigos in Half Moon Bay. A real restuarant now but started as nothing and they are just incredible......and cheap to.

10. One of my clients held a "Hot August Nights" classic car event...
...in the parking lot (it's an Italian restaurant) and they had a cart set up under a big umbrella for serving Italian sausage sandwiches (with peppers and onions, of course)...they went through them like they were giving them away (and they weren't).

:toast:

13. Hot dogs from "Ting-a-Ling's" in Bloomfield, NJ - onions so spicy they make your nose run,
served with an ice-cold YooHoo in a can.
You don't know what gooor-may is till you've had 5 of 6 of those puppies.

15. Every Italian in Northern Jersey has Ting-a-Ling's in their blood, Amerigo - or they
go to his main competitor who parks on the corner across the street, almost in a tuanting manner.
Right near Branchbrook Park. And, yes - YOO-HOO. Iced cold, from the back of the truck.
After which you have to blow your nose really well, and drive home with your mouth open.

11. Personally, I prefer heavy water dogs.
You can use it to power the ol' spaceship.

Seriesly, I love the dogs at CostCo, because the relish always appears to be at the very edge of visibly and audibly fizzing.
