I'm devastated by the caucus results |
|
Please cheer me up. If Edwards doesn't win, I think unions are finished in this country; if unions are finished, then our jobs aren't safe.

But it's astonishing that Huckabee would be anybody's choice. He basically said that God will cause him to win. Haven't the repukes figured out that God has nothing to do with their politics?

15. I think Huckabee winning is actually a good thing. |
|
The establishment corporatist Republicans have their knickers in a wad, and it sets up some nasty battles that'll divide Republicans and ensure that an unpopular choice will be nominated. I don't think Huck will do as well in NH.
However, if he's the nominee, I think he'll be toast anyway. I don't think blue America is going to go for a dumbass Jesus-rode-a-dinosaur throwback.

Edwards is the first politician in a long time who is willing to engage in class warfare. That's a brave position. I hope it catches fire with people who haven't been voting in their own interest.

8. Here's what you need to focus on... |
|
we beat Hillary. What Edwards said in the speech afterwards is true...change won, the status quo lost. While I'm clearly not an Obama supporter, I think he's a far, far cry from being the corporatist that Hillary is.
Also, it's not over. Edwards is still fighting. The discourse has changed. The media can no longer get away with their "Clinton! Obama! Clinton! Obama!" mantra. The top two are Obama and Edwards...which makes it a hell of a lot harder for them to marginalize Edwards.
Of course the results weren't exactly what we Edwards supporters wanted. But 2nd place isn't the end of the world and we learned a lot from the voter breakdown. If any top-tier candidate should be worried today, it's not Edwards. It's Clinton. The presumed/assumed nominee came in THIRD. That's cause for concern, second isn't.

Due to the massive importance of healthcare and ending the occupation of Iraq ASAP, I can't say anything but that I hope Edwards does better in the rest of the primaries.
I can do this though.

But seriously, I have no doubt that any of the Democratic nominees will be better than what we've had for the past four years. I support Edwards because of his position on the side of working people, but I believe he's the best of three better alternatives.

Like Republicants have for the last 27 years. Are we surprised that Jesus lifted him to the winner's column?

23. in my version of reality Edwards is just beginning his rise to power |
|
I'm almost to the point where I've forgiven Al Gore for not running. I think if Edwards is sincere (and I believe he is) that he is exactly what we need to turn this sinking ship around. I hate being so emotionally tied up in this and my family mocks me for caring so much but we NEED a man we can put our hope and faith in. We need John Edwards to bring back the middle class and disrupt the status quo. If I was a praying woman that would be my prayer. The power belongs to us, the working class masses and not the fucking board members of Halliburton or members of the Bush Crime Family. It's either Edwards or a revolution. I'd much prefer Edwards because I'm not strong enough to fight a revolution.
Maybe I"m foolish and naive (and definitely sleep deprived and whiskey impaired) maybe Edwards is yanking our chains but in my heart I believe he really does have the interests of the working man at heart and my hopes and dreams are invested in the thought that he will bring us out of this chaos and restore the America I always thought we lived in. I listen to him and I hear sincerity. I wish I could afford to donate more than just a minimal amount to his campaign. I believe in him and his dream for the American middle class.

Edwards IS the only answer right now.
Don't be depressed though- he did not "lose" by much and I am praying people WAKE THE FUCK UP and realize who the best candidate is.
