"I do feel sorry for people who are not gorgeous"
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 10:32 PM by Amerigo Vespucci
Video at the link below...
"Spoiled rotten 15 year old beauty queen"

If you didn't catch "Wife Swap" this week, you missed a scary look into the world of beauty queens. Alicia is the 15-year-old daughter of a former pageant queen, and she's following in her mom's footsteps. Hilarity ensued when Alicia's mom was replaced by a feminist mom who values knowledge and independence (gasp!). I know this clip is long, but I assure you, every second of it is priceless. If you don't watch it to see the spoiled princess cry when her picture gets ripped up, at least watch it for the character study. This girl makes Miss Teen South Carolina look like Stephen Hawking.

1. I watched that episode and was completely disgusted by that entire family
I liked the feminist family a whole lot better.

3. i don't know where to even begin but i have questions---
in the second or third clip it shows her dancing with some fringed looking outfit, i've seen that dancing before in clips from the pageants that have little girls, like the Jon Benet Ramsey thing, ok what is with that? Why do they all dance like that? who came up with that and though it was cute because it isn't, it's scary. Ok 2nd, Moms there was a former beauty queen? "Hey honey, you must have been something before electricity".

With that schnoz.

Why is it always the ugliest girls that think they're hot shit?

7. She's not "gorgeous".
For one thing, her nose is too big and her face is proportioned badly. I assume she'll find that out (to her detriment) after she leaves her very small high school world.

And beyond that, she's a moron.

I suspect life would be very hard for this girl if her parents ever stopped supporting her. Not that that seems likely to happen any time soon. I have a vision of her at age 32 with her mortgage still being paid by daddy because she wasn't pretty or talented enough for Hollywood and jobs for normal people are beneath her.

If I could change one thing about America, it would be to dump people like this family into the sea.

She was a cute kid I'm sure. But listen to how she talks :puke:

People should go thru some mental screening before they'r allowed to reproduce, I'm not kidding. I hope this was a joke.

because it always matches these polar opposite families that are sooooo extreme in their beliefs you end up hating both of them.

But then, I have trouble believing that there are entire families like that out there.

17. That's true, but she's also thoughtful and intelligent.
I don't feel sorry for the less-than-gorgeous folks; I feel sorry for the fools. The girl in the video is a fool and will turn out just like her mother.

When I first saw that pic on huffington post, I thought it was Britney Spears? (replying now so I can find later)

If that's her, she's not bad looking, but nothing special. There are dozens of women in my office hotter than her.

21. Jeff, is your company hiring?
I used to work in a bank corporate HQ and there were all kinds of beautiful women working there... of course, I was fresh out of college, so I was still spoiled from an environment of thousands of adorable college "co-eds" and I didn't appreciate the situation at the bank. Then i got out into the real world... If I'd known then what I know now...

25. Nah, I'm largely unskilled...
...at least in anything meaningful. Plus, I've been working for myself for about 15 years now, so I'm sure I'm ruined for being an employee. What I do seems so highly specialized that, while I do it pretty well, it'll never translate into working for someone else.

Maybe I'm qualified to be a pointy-haired boss guy. :)

working for a big corporation is probably not a change you'd like... other than getting to view a few score intelligent and attractive women every day.

28. My husband and I found ourselves fascinated by that show
The ad came on for it, mentioning a beauty queen in NY state and I jokingly said to my husband that I had to watch the beginning to see if it was a girl I knew from high school who had entered her two daughters in beauty pageants almost from the time they had popped out of her. I visited her once and she proudly showed me a $600 dress she had bought for the older girl (6 at the time) to wear to her next pageant. I also got "treated" to a video of said child at her last pageant. Since then I have been opposed to pageants for young children and almost beaned a clueless relative who suggested I enter my own 5 year old in a pageant. It was not my acquaintance, so I told the husband that he could turn it off, but he was loathed to do so, since the husband of the pageant queen was so obnoxious. It was, we decided afterwords, like watching an accident in slow motion. You know that you should avert your eyes, that no good can come of watching, but you just have to see what happens. I did like that the "feminist" family lightened up on the younger girls and let them have the fun of princess-hood. My 5 year old loves the Disney princesses and dressing up and I would not think to deprive her of her fun. But the pageant family - ugh - that father was a real trip. My husband couldn't believe that a guy who was roughly the same age as he is was actually spouting such sexist drivel. It really was painful. The worst part was when the two couples met and the pageant queen mother was actually proud of the fact that she had called a young teenager a nerd.

33. There is a difference between doing "Princess" stuff at 5
and at 15. As the father of an almost 5 year old daughter, it's almost impossible to avoid the Disney princess phenomenon if you let you them out of the house at all. Girls have been playing dress-up for ages - it just now has the official stamp of Disney on it.

My parents were pretty nice to me, but nobody really helped me with homework after elementary school - let alone did my assignments for me.

35. I know what you mean
Heck, my mom was a teacher and would have eaten her red marking pen before she did an assignment for me. Both my husband and I were, well, beyond taken aback with some of the antics of the beauty queen's parents. You are so right - playing princess at age 5 is one thing; at 15 it is something else entirely.

30. If that performance was legit, I really feel sorry for the girl.
One day she is going to realize that she isn't gorgeous and that it takes more than a pretty face to get by in life. Her parents have done her a big disservice by giving her everything she has ever wanted and teaching her that she can get by on her looks alone. IMO, this is a nearly as bad as child neglect and abuse.

:wow:
