4. "National Treasure 2".

After I mentioned to my dad that "National Treasure 1" was the last movie I saw with my mom, he suggested we go together. On Christmas Day. It was nice.

:hugs:That's the last movie I saw too. We saw it at a midnight showing the night that it came out because my daughter and new son in law got in that night from Missouri and we used it kind of as a bonding tool. It was nice too and it turned out to be a really wonderful visit.

The last movie I saw with my dad was My Fellow Americans (at his home on video) He died shortly thereafter. So I'll always have a special place for that movie.

Frank Langella is wonderful in it. Some talk of an Oscar nomination for this performance.

I liked this movie much more than I expected to.

It made fun of previous Disney movies and had all sorts of hidden and not-so-hidden references to those movies.

I liked the scene with the rats and pigeons and cockroaches (!!) helping with the cleanup.

It resonated with me on many levels.

It has to be something special to get us to a theater, but we've always been suckers for those kind of big British epics.

The tracking shot on the Dunkirk beaches is one of the most striking and technically proficient things I've even seen, in all my years of going to the movies. That shot alone is worth the price of a ticket....

I'm a big ol' Gaiman fan. The movie had none of the texture of the original Vess-illustrated, but was gorgeous amyway. It took some liberties, but those were okay, too.

95. I'm Not There

Film of 2007 for me. Yes, Cate Blanchett is wonderful, but so is everybody, especially Marcus Carl Franklin and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Utterly fascinating and compelling throughout with ideas dripping off every frame. I can't remember the last time I saw a film made with such care and intelligence that still had me watching with a massive grin at how bloody great and cool it all was. Really, really recommended.

109. I have not set foot in a theater in 20 years (I am 44 y/0)

Ever since they started renting them I didn't feel a need. I can't pause the movie if I want to get a snack or go to the toilet. I don't need to find a parking spot in order to catch a DVD. I can eat ANY snack I wish while I watch & it doesn't cost an arm & a leg.

There is no movie on earth that I would pay 7 bucks per person to watch.

I bring my own snacks, can actually sit for a couple of hours without using the toilet, and even if parking is crap I don't mind walking.

The nearest theater of ANY type is 15 miles away. The second nearest is 40 miles. The nearest discount movie theater????? I wasn't implying I couldn't hold my bodily functions, I was saying if I choose to use the bathroom I can pause the movie. I don't have to drive anywhere, I can enjoy the movie in the comfort of my own home. A buck fitty is about what I pay to watch my DVD's at home using blockbuster online.
The best thing is, if a movie sucks I can eject it & go to bed without thinking twice about it.
