Mine was twenty years ago. There's probably been a few changes since then ;-).
Unfortunately, the draining is an unpleasant by-product. If it seems excessive, it's time to call the doc.
If they told him to rest and take his medication, they meant it. The pain meds will actually help him heal faster.
Good luck to both of you, and here's to a speedy and complete recovery.

2. A friend of mine just had that last week. |

He was miserable for the first day after that, but quickly recovered. He's mostly suffering now from not being able to take allergy medication. So his nose is healing while he's got terrible allergy symptoms. Really sucks. We are all hoping that his hearing will return to normal when all is said and done.

4. I think that is what is hardest for my hubby |

he has bad allergies so he can't breathe at all and is getting a sore throat from all the draining. Plus he has sleep apnea, but the cpap machine hurts too much to use so he can't sleep.

and yeah, pretty much pain meds and waiting it out are the only way through. In retrospect I don't know how the hell *I* lived through his surgery because we planned it for right around the time our daughter was born so that he could combine the sick leave with paternity leave. I had 2 babies on my hands. Oy.

I remember the drainage being really a drag for a few days. My nose was tender for like a year afterward though.
