I lost a dear, old fur-friend yesterday. Isis

Her back legs went out suddenly. Vet said she had thrown a clot and there wasn't much he could do.

She found us about ten years ago and was an adult then. I have no idea how old she was.

She was very protective and vigilant. Which isn't something I've seen in many cats. If one of the kids would yelp in distress she would come charging sideways with her fur up.

I'd also seen her run toward other sounds of distress whether it was a screaming kid, cat or pup. I'm not sure I saw a cat do that before.

She loved to exchange headbutts, and to sleep nestled up against somebody. She also liked to put her back paw pads against bare feet or ankles.

Goodbye sweet one.

3. Yeah I just noticed that captured another quirk she had.
She would always drop one piece of food in her water dish.

And there it is.

24. I've also heard that cat's might do that to help with depth perception.
It helps them judge better where the surface of the water is somehow.

...I know it won't make things any easier for you when I say that after 4 years I am still mourning over my own loss of a dear kitty. His name is my password, every time I use that password I think of him...I think of our last moments together. I have no advice for you...I can only say that I understand your pain alphafemale.

12. for Isis
Dear God, you have given us care over all living things; protect and bless the animals who give us companionship and delight, make us their true friends and worthy companions. Amen.

Dear God, protect and bless all beings that breathe, keep all evil from them, and let them sleep in peace. Amen.
--Albert Schweitzer, "Memoirs of Childhood and Youth"

Eternal Spirit, we bring you our grief in the loss of Isis and ask for courage to bear it. We bring you our thanks for Isis who lived among us and gave us freely of her love. We commit our friend and companion Isis into your loving hands. Give us eyes to see how your love embraces all creatures and every living thing speaks to us of your love. Amen.

To Isis you are free now to run, romp, play and leave a piece of food in your water bowl. You found the Right people to take care of you in your time of need. Feel free to return to them whenever you are ready to manifest again.

((( This happened to me, with my first cat, who returned again to be with us. Long story, but if you're interested let me know and I'll give you the details )))

To alphafemale, all my kitties (( 10 in all )) found me with the exception of two. We've had to put down our share of babies, and it's never easy. Lost most of mine to renal failure.

At the present I have two house cats, and this past summer I rescued 3 wild kitties and have tamed them. They are the most loving babies I have ever known. Well of course that isn't true, ALL my babies have been the most loving because they were all kittens when they found us. One of the cats we adopted is the most unaffectionate cats I have ever had, I'm guessing because she didn't have a good upbringing.

Thank you for being there for Isis and providing her with a good home, loving care, just remember to always keep her in your memories.

21. Thanks everyone. My daughter was home from college too.
First time she's been home in over a year.

Both she and my son both talked and came to the conclusion that Isis held on to see her one more time.

Odd thing is that I had a childhood cat that passed when I went back to my childhood home for a visit after a long absence too. And I hadn't mentioned that to them previously.

One of the constants in my life is the love I get from my two cats. My oldest would probably wait until Lelapin got home to pass on. He loves her that much.

I gasped - Isis looks like my old Bettina's twin, who died in 2003 at 18!

Blue tabbies are scary smart, at least in my experience.

I'm very sorry for your loss - she was stunning.

wow - sorry about the huge image - I don't know how to shrink it.

28. Aw. Lovely Isis, RIP sweet kitty.
Our beloved Moocat was fiercely protective of our sons when they were babies. She always came running to tell me if one of them was crying. She once ran to protect him from a schnauzer with a bad attitude with all her fur up, hissing and spitting, I have never seen anything like it. And when she looked ar our oldest son from across the room her whole body shook from the purring and her face was so filled with love. I miss her still.

It is hard to say goodbye to friends like that. She was a beautiful girl. The true cost of "owning" a pet has nothing to do with money, you pay with a broken heart.

Very sad, always, sad times when one of them goes. It sounds like she had a good long life, though?

I know that doesn't really help, but it's something.

Much love,
