not that example though - what kind of fancy new fangled crap is that? see saws (or teeter totters as we called them) should be made of wood, and/or possibly metal.

Actually the device you've pictured above is an interesting study in how the English language works.

There are about 4 terms for this playground device in North America and various regions call it by different names for different reasons.

Here in southern Ontario, it's invariably called a "teeter-totter".
