Dip your fingers in it real quick and flick the water their way.
Instant scattering kitties!
Soon, all you have to do is get the cup of water, start to dip your fingers in it and they will scram before you get your fingers wet.
It works!
;-)

5. Simple water pistols and spray bottles of water work great too. |
|
That's how I trained Yogi and Domino. They are very well behaved cats too. I don't know why water miffs cats so much, but it does.

6. It REALLY gets their attention. |
|
They don't like water ( at least most of them don't).
Everytime it rains here, which it seldom does, they meow their heads off in outrage!

On hot days, Spike would do things to make me chase him with the SuperSoaker and just douse him. He then goes to my bed and does a big shake, and then spends the day cleaning his tail. Other times he'd just rear up on his hind legs and open his mouth as a target for the SuperSoaker. Darn Maine Coons!

Nicknamed "Aquatread" from a tender age, the cat is not only drip-dry, but waterproof. I've nailed him square in the face with the water gun, and he just gives himself a bath and keeps doing whatever it was got him spritzed in the first place.

22. I added some vinegar to the water in my supersoaker... |
|
..had some neighborhood cats whose attitudes sorely needed adjusting... but they weren't MY cats, so I couldn't just take them to my vet and ask him to snip them.
A sploosh in the face with vinegar water usually got their attention and stopped the fight really quickly.
Cue the douchebag jokes in 3..2..1..

7. Probably changing your user name would help. |
|
You could change it to cactus or something that kitties don't like to jump on.

17. Get them those little square catnip things from the petstore. Mine have |
|
been busy for hours these last two day. The little one even tried to attack the big one to get at his catnip. Much drama but they have left me alone.

When you're no longer of use as a kitty launching pad or landing strip, pack it in.
