I just had my picture taken with Keith Ellison, and all I can think of is. " |
|
wow, my gut has gotten big over the winter.
It was seriously great seeing him speak though--and not just his impeccable public speaking skills, but the way he actually gave voice to what I and many of my friends are thinking. He doesn't get tons of air time or newspaper column-inches yet, but he will.

3. He was great. He spoke for about 20 minutes or so, and then took questions; |
|
a fairly good portion of the questions were adversarial (socialized medicine, suicide bombers etc.) and he was FLAWLESS. Attentive, respectful, thorough (he took a raft of questions at the end in a "lightning round" so everybody could speak their mind) and thoughtful. Very thoughtful, in fact he answered even the most loaded questions directly and I'd say he came out on top in every situation. And he never stooped to platitudes or demagoguery.
I'm still pretty pumped about the whole thing. He discussed impeachment, health care, the presidential race, racism and sexism, in other words the works. It's nice to see that some of our representatives are talented AND get it.
There may still be a lot of BS left in the system, but there is hope to be sure!
PS I'm still not sure what to think about Halsey at Leyte Gulf though. ;)

Like I said, i will always defend Halsey at Leyte Gulf.....
Just think, the Princeton was hit by an aerial bomb, Halsey sinking the carriers was the best thing he could have done at that time, with the Kamikaze threat looming, they were shuttling between their carriers and bases in the Phillipines, i agree that he should have kept VADM Willis Lee and the battleships and heavy cruisers back guarding the strait, but that would mean the USS New Jersey going there also, and that was his flagship........:hi:

2. Dude, Keith is a pretty cool guy |
|
I wish I could meet him. I saw him shaking hands and slapping high fives at the Obama rally and thought that was cool for a congressman to do. I haven't followed his legislative work much but have heard good things. I'm sincerely hoping for MN-03 to go blue this year and am confident it will.

4. I think he and Obama are on very similar wavelengths and I think for a lot of the right reasons |
|
You just know that Ellison has dealt with a mountain of BS in his time and he knows that the antidote for despair isn't anger or fear, it is hope.
I'm pretty stoked really. I like that.
