Shirley wants to Sue her Nephew because he is a pledged delegate and wants to vote for OBAMA!!!!!!

FUCK!!!!!! I guess I have to cross that show off my tv viewing list.

1. No, it's because he wants to vote contrary to what his district voted.

2. So...

maybe he reads DU and is up on the latest Hillary news, and has made a rational decision that if the voters of Mass had known what we know now, they would have changed their mind.

on edit: it still is fully within his right to do so.

4. You've missed the point - the issue I have is that you lied.
I also have an issue with your utter silliness that because of the actions of one fictional character in a fictional TV show, you will cease to watch that show.

But the big issue is that you have passed on a lie as truth.

No different than what the media do all the time - great big lies in the headlines and the stories.

6. You said that Shirley was suing a guy for voting for Obama.
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 09:44 PM by Rabrrrrrr
That's a lie.

She's suing a superdelegate for voting contrary to the vote of the district; which just happens to be a guy voting for Obama in a Clinton voting district.

7. Are you even watching boston legal?
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 09:46 PM by jasonc
did you watch it at the beginning or only after I posted this thread?

:eyes:

because that is exactly what she said...

and twice in this thread, nice try, but fuck you... Again.... :eyes:

edit: In fact, tomorrow we can both go to hulu.com or fancast.com and you can watch it for yourself all over again...

15. I watched it from the beginning. She said "I'm sueing him because he's
voting for Obama" then the Spader character says "Why? It's a free country. He can vote for whoever he likes". She then says "Not when he's voting against the will of the constituents who he is supposed to represent. Whatever happened to one person, one vote in this country? it's wrong. I've seen you tilting at windmills, and now it's my time" (not verbatim but close to it). The Spader character was obviously FOR Obama, but makes the case that the system sucks and disenfranchises everyone but the wealthiest.

17. Yes, I did watch it. The lawsuit was not about the pledged delegate voting Obama,
(and I realize he was a pledged delegate, not the superdelegate I mistakenly called him), the issue is that he was voting contrary to the vote of the people in his district.

The writers could just have easily made it that he was voting for Clinton in a district that voted for Obama.

The issue was that delegates could vote contrary to the people in their districts, and that's why the lawsuit actually went against the democratic party, and not the delegate.

Yes, I watched the show. Your initial claim that the issue was about suing someone for voting for Obama is yellow journalism.

22. Nice try...
But as I stated earlier, I switched the tv off after Shirley said she wanted to sue him for voting for obama...

Whatever happened after that, I am unaware of. I did not watch the show after that.

I also did not lie.

and once again for the third time in this thread alone, nice try but... FUCK YOU!

18. Yes, I do - a lie is to speak to something that is not true,
or to speak something that is sort of partly true, but which hides the real truth.

21. You are wrong.
Because you have left out the most important aspect of the definition of a lie-- intention. It is a statement that intentionally speaks to something that is not true. That is crucial to the definition. Because your definition can apply to a simple misstatement.

A misstatement isn't a lie. If I believe something to be true and I say so and am proved wrong, I am not a liar. I am simply wrong or misinformed. I can be wrong about some information and believe that I am presenting the facts accurately. Would you call scientists whose theories have been found to be incorrect "liars?" That is stupid. And so was you response to Jason.

By you accusing Jason of being a liar, that would assume that you believe that he is INTENTIONALLY trying to deceive people by posting what he did. Nevermind that what he said may be untrue. That is irrelevant.

Personally, I think that you owe him an apology.

20. Too bad you didn't stick around to watch
the part where Allen's character says the only way Clinton is going to win the nomination is to poach her own delegates from Obama.

It's a TV show. And a liberal one at that. Get over yourself. If you are going to stop watching a show because of one line (that you are taking out of context) then you gots problems.

9. I see that you glanced over the whole issue of sniper fire.
This delegate totally glossed over the "fact" that Jeremiah Wright gave his "God-Damn-America" speech while under sniper fire coming from the vicinity of the HUGE home that Edwards built. I find it amusing that no one wants to discuss this issue. Not the MSM. Not the superdelegates. Not the Trekkies. Everyone just sweeps it under the rug and hopes it will go away.

Well, screw that. The truth WILL be told!

12. It was a great episode
really made the point that the people DON'T choose who gets into office because they never really get to pick the candidates. And everyone's vote is NOT equal.

The judge at the end says "Case dismissed. Everyone losses". How true.

And I was also very moved by the judge's final comment of "Everyone loses."

So very true.

More and more trouble with that as my dyslexia keeps getting worse (interchanging words that sound alike)

I haven't seen Boston Legal in years. Great show. I liked the cloned animal case as well. Without shows like this most of the public would be entirely unaware of the crap our government is trying to pull.
