Anybody else ever just lose interest in a hobby or something that's interested you for years?

2. there are 2 reasons this happens, one good, one bad

the good reason is that you have gotten caught up in something else that excites you more -- at least for now the new love has driven out the old -- example: i was obsessed with astronomy when younger but now i am instead obsessed with birding -- the skies are no longer good enough to make astronomy such a rewarding hobby, but the birds are still with us and some species are more accessible now than they were in my youth (eagles, ospreys, pelicans are some notable examples) -- another example would be a friend who was formerly a chess master (?) but then became obsessed with poker when he found out that he could actually beat that game for real money, he seldom plays chess any more, all his thoughts have turned toward the poker strategies

the bad reason for losing interest in one's hobby is it's a symptom of clinical depression and sometimes other illnesses

what hobby are we talking about, if i may ask?
