Brutal honesty in a relationship... A must or not? |
|
A bit of wisdom from a quirky relationship comedy movie, Let Sleeping Dogs Lie.
Must one admit to every pre-relationship sexual transgression in order to make a it work?
Or is it better to leave somethings unsaid?
What do you say, oh wise ones?

5. I think that's a ridiculous concept |
|
We've all got histories and they're based on a lot of factors. Dumping out a lot of revelations about one's past just puts questions and doubts out there thay maybe aren't applicable at all to what's going on now.
I think there are things that it's good to get out in the open but I also think there are things in my past - or his - that are none of his - or my - business. What I'm concerned with are the present and future.

Unless it's going to come back to haunt you. I can guarantee you my husband would not want to hear about ALL of my pre-relationship transgressions, even if he says he does. Just the ones that count.
And we're 16 years together and going strong.

7. Current partners only need to know about prior sexual exploits that pose a risk to them |
|
So if you contracted a disease, you've got a kid to pay for and or raise, or if your last partner was the leader of a biker gang who is likely to kill anybody who has sex with you, they should know that. Other than that, I can't imagine why anybody would want to know the details, and they're certainly not entitled to them.

The only reason people THINK it's important is cause it boils down to jealousy.
