If you had to deal daily with someone who has betrayed you, how would you handle it? |
|
This is an open question. I'll take your responses off the air. Thanks!

4. Divorce them, fire them, quit my job, kill them, spread ugly rumors about them - it really depends |
|
on the situation. No matter what, I would not be nice about it (although I'm sure walking away would be more rational)...

7. Assess whether or not you think the relationship is worth continuing. |
|
Look at how much you already have or you are willing to invest in nurturing this relationship back to where both parties were happy and in agreement.

11. Reduce contact to the minimum necessary, and not one bit more |

and start looking for a way to have no contact at all.

didn't let many people know for my own reasons, mostly protecting people that didn't deserve to get any of her shit on them. then she finally was asked to resign from her job and she left town.

18. Depends on how I had to deal with them. |
|
If the relationship required trust, I would find a way out of it, or find a way to verify everything. If the relationship didn't require trust, I would continue to be the same person I am, but not let that person beneath the surface again. Superficially nice, but with no depth.
Depends on whether this is work, a marriage, a friendship, a casual acquaintance...
My worst betrayal came from someone I could not just separate from without destroying other things in the process. That was a bad situation, and I wish I had handled it differently. Broke it off, and let events happen as they must. Sometimes acceptance turns into appeasement, with all the future betrayals that entails.

19. It usually catches up with them, no need to help them along. |
|
From the high road you can sometimes get a very good view when their crap explodes, and you'll be far enough away not to get any of the stink on you.
A saintly person wouldn't gloat when than happens... but I've never been a saint.

On what they did, who they are, how remorseful they were, etc.
Nothing is ever an easy answer without knowing all the factors.
Good luck.
