Want to know how many miles you get for a dollar these days?
Take the inverse of the price of gas ($3.85 here in MN) 1/3.85 = 0.26 and multiply that by your car's mileage. I get 54 miles per gallon which is about 14 miles per dollar. I was getting 30 miles per dollar when Boosh* took office.

1. for me...
1/3.66= .27 X 26mpg = 7.1 miles per dollar, which means it costs me about 4 dollars for a round trip to get to my classes this summer :(

3. As many as I feel like
I ride a bike.

I don't know how much the water filters cost that fill up the tank that I get my water from though.

18. I bike commute 2x a week
It's 20 miles each way, so I can't do it every day (also kids to pickup a couple times a week when the wife can't).

hello fellow Minnesotan. :hi:

My car needs premium at $4.06 a gallon average, so that makes it...

1/4.06=.25

I get on average 17mpg which means I get 4.2 miles per dollar, approximately.

6. NO
I just bought a new car based on emotion instead of common sense. It is great fun to drive, but gets HORRIBLE gas mileage.

To Offset it, my Fiance is getting a Prius.

which is kind of a good thing, premium here is about 4.17 a gallon.

13. More importantly, what is your person miles per dollar.
You indicated you are doing 14 miles per dollar. If you have four people in your car, then you are doing 56 people-miles per dollar.

:hi:

if I have 4 people in my car, I get 16 miles per dollar per person...

That makes me feel better...:P

edit, not really because my fuel mileage is still the same, infact with 4 people in the car, it will probably get even worse...

17. You are absolutely correct.
Alas, I am usually the only person in it, but a coworker and I are talking about carpooling. That would get me up to 28 PM/$ (at today's price)

14. *sigh* * 8.84 miles per dollar. (I know it could be much worse. I sold my 17 MPG farm truck.)
1/$3.79 = 0.26 x 34 (average mileage for my 92 Corolla) = 8.84 miles per dollar.

Back when gas was a whopping $1.50 during the 1990s, I got 22.67 miles per dollar.

19. Ouch.
1/3.89 = .257 * 33 mpg = 8.48 miles per dollar.

At least it's still miles/dollar rather than dollars/mile, I suppose...

The killer is that I have to do all of the driving to pick my kid up. 220 miles a week, about $160 a month. :-(

I live three-quarters of a mile from work and two miles from shopping. I'd be doing GREAT otherwise!
