The Italian Job- Caine or Wahlberg?
I love 'em both, but Michael Caine's version is a bit dated (duh). He's great, tho', and there's a lot of proper British humor in it that never seems to get old.

OTOH, Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron together are great, and all the cool technotoys and great humor are to die for.

1. Caine - by far
That movie was an impressive production for its time.

4. Caine... by far...
classic line "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!".

And the ending - they never get away with it... or so you think. Bus perched off of edge of cliff. Definitely a cliffhanger ending!

Mark.

6. Caine version
I've seen both and don't remember the new version being much of a comedy.

7. I can't believe someone with your screen name would even ask that
You might as well ask 'John Steed - Patrick Macnee or Ralph Fiennes?'

One was a great film; the other was a marketing exercise for the relaunched Mini, which used the title in a cynical attempt to tie itself to the proper film.

There wasn't any 'great humor' in the 2nd film. I hadn't realised they had claimed to put any humor in at all. It was just a series of set pieces for the stunts. I couldn't remember who the hell was in it. The acting was wooden.

"The Italian Job" has to be on the top 10 list of "remakes that never should have happened".

8. Caine, definitely. I saw that movie in college..one of those deals
where a bunch of us went to the triple feature drive in movie and this movie was the "other movie" playing with the one we originally went to see. I don't remember the one we went to see but never forgot "Italian Job"

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the whole bit with Noel Coward, he was such a hoot in that part.

"Rule Brittania"
