1. My ex-wife's first love contacted her through Classmates while we were still married |
|
Edited on Sun May-25-08 08:26 PM by Concerned GA Voter
He was abusive and essentially raped her on prom night. She said she wasn't going to respond, but she always spoke fondly of him. I suspect she probably did respond.
Nobody's ever contacted me because I've never joined up. I intend to keep it that way.

We met up later by accident. We weren't friends in HS, though I wanted to be. She was smart, pretty, a great athlete and kind to everybody -except me. When we met up again she said she was surprised at what a nice guy I am and she hadn't been my friend because she thought I was scary. I told her not scary just very unhappy.
I'd kinda like to get in contact with her. But time moves on and the past is the past.

She contacted me through there, and when she couldn't get me to respond she contacted me through MySpace.
When I moved to San Antonio at the beginning of my junior year, it was hard to make new friends because my school had been a junior and high school combined, and everyone had known each other since they were 12.
Anytime I made a new friend, they would get shipped to live with a different custodial parent in a different city, and I began to despair of ever having a life before graduation. This girl and I met and didn't have much in common, but hung out. I couldn't WAIT to get the fuck out of there.
I tried to diplomatically explain to her that I really wasn't interested-- that we didn't have much in common (I checked out her page, and it's everything I can't stand-- NASCAR, overly-Christian crud (I'm agnostic), reality TV...)
She got REALLY snotty and said that she'd always thought I was a slut anyway, so have a nice life. :eyes: Um...didn't do anything with anybody until I was 19, you stupid twit.
I wrote her back again and told her thanks for proving why I had no desire to stay in touch, that psychologically she was still 17, and that I had moved on. I also told her I think they were missing her in study hall.

both male and female. I've been out of HS for 36 years and hadn't heard from some of them since grade school. An old friend is having a get together next month, and a lot of old friends will be there.
Should be interesting.

8. Years ago someone contacted me. We had a pleasant but short exchange of emails. |
|
But it was stuff from 30 years ago. It was interesting to learn who died and who got divorced, but at the end of the day, it had nothing to do with everything that happened since then.

32. I want to know how this works too b/c I do not want anyone to contact me |
|
I don't do myspace or facebook. I've never gone to that classmates link...
so, if you do NOT want ppl to contact you, can they still do this? I suppose if someone really wants to find you it's possible, of course, just by regular methods, but I have a particular aversion to this idea b/c my sister and I had a stalker from when I was 12 until I was 35 (!!) - he even showed up at our father's funeral.
I also had a jerk I had gone out with earlier in life call me to brag about how great he was and how it was too bad I dumped him.
I guess I just assume that anyone who has a life really doesn't need to contact me if we aren't still in contact anyway.

15. I've been contacted by a few people on myspace |
|
and several years ago on classmates.com I think.
I didn't pay anything but I got emailed about the reunion.
I didn't go though.
I only went to high school there 2 years and didn't know most of the class well enough to keep up with them.
Interestingly one of the people on myspace that I have been in contact with is a woman who I never knew who I went to high school with and graduated with. She is in the same situation in that she only went there a couple of years. It's interesting 'cause she and I know people in common but I've seen her high school pic and don't know her.
another person contacted me recently on myspace and I kinda remember her, but not well enough. she claims that we "traded cars" once, I don't remember that, but she does so hey?
I also found a guy that I ran around with for a while in high school on myspace. I remember that he ran his motorcycle into the side of a cow one night on a country road. Amazingly he just got a little road rash, and no serious injuries occurred.

Some I just exchanged a few emails with, others I've stayed close to. After Katrina, I had several old friends and girlfriends who grew up on the Coast contact me. Most of us had moved away, and we all seemed to be trying to reconnect, possibly because of the destruction of so much of our old home.
The strangest one was the woman I sort of always regretted not marrying. I contacted her--not romantically, I was over that part--and found out she had just remarried a year before, and had been looking for me while she was divorced. After telling me how much she loved her new husband, she started asking if I was ever going to move back, and asking if I would see her the next time I went back there. Nothing unusual.
That wasn't the weird part--a couple of weeks into our conversations, I was scanning AM channels and randomly stopped on Dr. Laura. I didn't know it was Dr. Laura, because what stopped me was this man's sad and scared voice. He was telling the "Doctor" that he had found some emails his wife had sent to an old boyfriend that she had recently found online, and that she was trying to convince the old boyfriend to move back near her. He even mentioned they had only been married about a year--I've changed a couple of details here, just to keep it more anonymous. Point is, the few details I heard matched what this friend and I had been saying, very closely, only with a somewhat sinister interpretation of it.
I laughed, and thought I couldn't wait to tell this friend about it. But I never got to. She stopped writing to me, just then.
No, I doubt it was connected! It was just funny.

|
after 20 years. Being that my parents forced our break-up in 1985, he wanted to find me. Both of us were married to others at the time.
I had since gotten divorced, he had not - but somehow seemed to think that I was supposed to just answer to his beck and call. When I started dating, he kinda lost it. It all ended with me going to the police station - they fired off a warning shot phone call to him, and that was that.

Very few names are familiar. Those I remember aren't there. I suspect most are cheap like me, going the freebie route. There's nary a person I'd want to contact.
Now my kibbutz years are different. And those reunion sites are free.

20. I signed up a long time ago when it was still mostly free. I got contacted by a couple |
|
of people I was pretty ambivalent about. Nobody I really wanted to see. Then a few years ago I signed up on myspace and was stupid enough to list my high school. Within days I got messages from a guy who had a stalker-y crush on me in high school (the only guy who had a crush on my in high school) and a girl who was in a youth group I joined who still lives in my home town and sounds like she pretty much peaked senior year in high school.
Why is it only the people you DON'T want to see that contact you?

My first girlfriend and I got in touch after 20 years. I owed her an apology for my then manifesting alcoholism and addiction, and my inability to form a relationship with another human being.
Two things went wrong- I started getting alerts that messages sent to me were bouncing (never could find out what they were), and I still am not able to form a relationship with other human beings- I had been holding much spite about our breakup, and was mean and petty. In spite of everything else. I hope she understands that I apologize for that as well, because it's not appropriate for us to be in touch any further. I pray for her and her families and am slowly working upon myself, and the human bullshit piling up around me, seeking to take advantage of my addictive nature.

I discovered a person I knew from almost a decade ago, a friend, has a facebook account. I sent him a message just before. I was freaking out big style - I seen him every day, and then not at all, for so long.
