Now, if I could only sell my house...

4. It costs as much as a house
That's always been my problem. Thirty-six foot tastes on a twenty-five foot budget.

3. Really nicely done internal layout.
Seems bigger than 36.

Spent a month on a badly laid out 38 foot Columbia. Bad layout=really annoying after a month.

5. Yeah, it's a pretty clean layout
A lot of boats that size try to squeeze in a second head.

6. Congratulations!
I live on my 43 foot Slocum and I don't think I will ever go back to land.

Looks like a great layout. What's the make? Will you be living aboard?

7. It's a Hunter
and it's just an idea at this point. I've never lived aboard one for more than two weeks.

8. A Lady at my dentist's office
recommended the Hunter because it has big windows, comparatively speaking.

I'm leaning toward a Beneteau myself (having given up the Swan as waaaaay toooooo expensive).

10. Production boats like Hunters and Beneteaus
are generally comfortable for short cruising, but I would look at non-production boats if you want something to live on or take out for real bluewater cruising. I guess i am kind of an *elitist* about these things. Swans are beautiful and fast but I would not want to live on one.

14. Yep, that's my baby.
Only 52 made and very hard to come by.

We looked at about 100 boats before we found this one tucked away in the California Delta. Single owner, never chartered and spent most of her life in freshwater. She is truly magnificent.

9. I would be glad to try and answer any questions you may have.
I've been on mine for about 1 1/2 years and it's been a steep learning curve. My initial advice would be - if that's what you want, go for it.

11. I need more experience before I can pull the trigger
I've cruised on small San Juans and Catalinas. And while I enjoy sailing for its own sake, it's really more of a means to and end for me, i.e. a way to get from point A to point B.

13. I know that down here in SoCal there are *yacht clubs*
that you can join for very reasonable fees and take their boats out for cruises. You could also crew. The Baja Haha in the fall is a great sailing adventure and people are always looking for crew. I'm not a yachtie. My boat is also a means to an end - a place to live and a means of getting to new places.
