I'm thinking of getting a new iPod. Is there a way to transfer all my music and playlists from my old iPod to the new one?

Can't you just dump your old iPod's files into iTunes and then load them from iTunes onto your new iPod?

2. How'd you get them on the current iPod? |
|
Sync current iPod with iTunes. Plug in new one. Load music.

I do manual updates since three of us share the computer. Plus, my external hard drive did a crash and burn about a year ago and I lost a bunch of my music. A lot of it only exists on my iPod.

8. I don't trust external hard drives |

Every piece of music that I get digitally I burn to a disc. I recently bought a 400 disc case logic to hold all of the stuff I've burnt.

6. is it in the apple proprietary format, or .mp3 or something? |
|
w/ mp3, just copy it all to your HD and copy back. I have no idea what, if anything, you'd be able to do with itunes store stuff.
