Why did I receive only $503 of my $600 stimulus check? |
|
Just got the check today....$503. I thought these checks were to be in $300, $600 and $1200 designations.
Am stymied...

4. Did you do your taxes through H&R Block or some such company? |
|
Because my brother's girlfriend did and they took a portion of her stimulus check. They said it was for a fee or something like that.

Edited on Fri May-30-08 06:55 PM by Chan790
How much, if I may ask, was the total of your income tax paid? You can't get back more than you paid. (Unless like me you paid less than $300...then you get $300)
Also, they deduct any money that they consider outstanding and owed to them.
Either one of those?
edit: clarity

Most people (including myself) recieved the round number. Since you have a CPA, I would ask her. Maybe she could explain why you lost 97 bucks?

The stimulus checks are UP TO $300, $600, $1200. We're getting much less too, but our tax software automatically calculated it and we won't be surprised.

17. I won't be getting my whopping $300 until July. |
|
I went to H & R Block am going to be really pissed if they get some kind of fee. I didn't know that you couldn't get back more than you owed but that would explain why I was thinking I was going to get $600 back but it's only going to be $300.
