The first time I was 15 or so and my dad didn't even let me go near the edge. He was pretty freaked out.

i think i freak out more watching people stand near edges than i do actually standing near one myself... especially when people goof around. of course the only mountain cliffs i've been around were in cheaha mountain.. so i imagine that they are baby cliffs to some. :P

I'd really like to visit some time. One of the trips I have swimming around my head is to fly into Memphis, check it out and then drive down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras.

I keep meaning to see some of the great things that we have here in America, but ultimately new passport stamps keep calling my name.

and the great thing is that there is a lot of culture down here too. if you want to see some awesome places i definitely would recommend new orleans, charleston, savannah, and mobile is very pretty too.. not to mention that the gulf coast has the most beautiful beaches in the US, and it is almost always sunny and warm in the summer.

i know what you mean about the passport calling though. i recently too my first trip to europe(saw italy) and have been dying to go back and see more.

43. i've never been there for saint paddy's day, but it is awesome year round

btw, new orleans is fun always, and on mardi gras it is a little too crowded and is more about getting drunk and wasted rather than enjoying the culture of the city(then again that might be what you want, lol). i haven't been able to go there since katrina, but i hear that the city is really starting to get back up and that many of the musicians who were displaced after the storm are back in the city.

i'm hoping to go back in october for voodoo fest. NIN is playing this year.

What a great shot! My husband climbs. He would love to go there. Maybe when the kids get older. We want to do a cross country trip one day.

I've never been to Grand Tetons or any of those east coast national parks. One of these times that I get a lot of vacation time and gas prices aren't through the roof I'll take an epic road trip.

39. we've been in Maine for three years and still haven't been to

Acadia. My husband is going crazy! We haven't been to Baxter State park either. I guess it would help if he had a climbing partner up here too. We will get there. He used to literally be at the Gunks every day for 10-14 hours at a time, but now you have to pay for season passes and parking and it is usually so crowded it is ridiculous. He used to make the trip down to West Virginia and Kentucky to climb every year. Before we moved up here he got into ice climbing and loved it (we lived in the Catskills in NY). I don't climb, but I do love to hike and our little boys love to as well. A few more years and we can do camping trips with them. Right now they are still at the age where we really need to do the type where we have to be close to the car. We also need a bigger tent!

When you're in your site and you can see other people talking and making noise kind of dampens the experience a little.

I was 36 when my granddaughter was born and 37 when my grandson was born, so I am actually about the right age to be their mom. Their mother was my oldest daughter; she died about 10 years ago in a car accident.
